    Sho's OFFICIAL MMA Ranking Thread

My last rankings were just a beta version.

NOTE: There is absolutely nothing scientific about how I make these rankings. No formulas or averages. These are just my opinion. I simply got tired of reading other writers/blogs rankings thinking that I can do better and decided to make my own. There is no specific deadline, but typically I plan to update near the end of the month because that’s when I normally feel like making lists of things.

Looks good, couple of questions though-

      JDS over Cain, why?
Belfort at #4, he hasn't won a middleweight fight yet (Franklin was 195)

Seems odd that Hansen is still ranked as a LW even though he is moving to FW, whereas Vitor is a LHW who is moving to mW

I was listening to the Sherdog podcast, and they said they were struggling to find 15 good HW's to put in their rankings. Having AA at #10 isn't a suprise to me

He's only a fight removed from a terribly boring decision loss to Pedro Rizzo. After the TOp 8 guys, it's really tough to rank anyone else

meh. only thing AA has done in the past 14 months has been getting knocked the fuck out twice. monson has gone 5-1 with wins over roy nelson (albeit controversial) and wrecking kharitonov over the same time span.

I think I'm out of the division ranking business, its very hard to do it properly with guys jumping around weight, no real matchmaking of 'contenders', the UFC not co-promoting, etc...plus so many guys are giving 'Top 10' status just after fighting a couple guys in the UFC

You can probably flip-flop either of them IMO, but I had Cigano rated above Cain prior to fighting Nog and believe that he has had the edge in SOS over Cain.

His two fights in Affliction were at middleweight plus with his quality of performance and history at higher weights were enough to make me rate him highly.

Understood about Hansen but A) Hansen hasn't officially fought at LW yet and B) No one else really made a convincing enough argument for the #10 spot. Sherk (who I orginially had there), Sanchez and Griffin are bleh choices, JZ has two losses vs. #2 and #4, but his lack of activity makes it difficult to justify, while Miller and Ben Henderson lack SOS.

Not a lot of options really. Carwin has only had one quality win despite his Lesnar-like stature and hype, Ubereem has been busy can crushing and cracking skulls in K-1, Gonzaga is meh and Big Foot is coming off a loss to Werdum. Monson losing to Rizzo fucked up his chances. There is no one better. At least Arlovski's last two losses have been against top competition.

until fighters arent locked into certain orgs theres no way to truly tell whos the best of the best, cause half the guys never fight each other.

AA went toe to toe with the best HW in the world and gave him a lot of problems, has recent wins over Rothwell, Werdum, and Nelson (nothing controversial about his W). No way does Monson touch AA.

AA was definitely beating Fedor.... until he got knocked out

at least Monson is staying active. 2 brutal KO loses is all AA has to show for in over a year, and theres no signs of him coming back soon. when your last W was 15 months ago idk how you could be considered a current top 10 HW

AA is too busy wanting to box and shit.. so he aint trying to put in a ton of work. Sure, Monsoon is more active, but id pick AA in a fight against him right now. Rogers fucked dudes shit up but Rogers has proven to be a legit top 10 himself IMO. Other then that AA has still looked pretty damn good to me. Getting caught like that to Fedor aint too much to be ashamed of.. hes only the greatest HW in the history of time.
