Sunday's UFC on Versus 2 event scored a 0.86 household rating and an average audience of 991,000 viewers, MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com today confirmed.

The event took place Aug. 2 at the San Diego Sports Arena in California and aired on Versus.

The ratings took a dip compared to the first UFC on Versus event, which averaged 1.24 million viewers back in March.

UFc on Versus 1 featured a Jon Jones vs. Brandon Vera light-heavyweight headliner. Jones won that fight and got a second headlining slot. At Sunday's UFC on Versus 2 show, he made quick work of veteran Vladimir Matyushenko and scored a first-round TKO.

UFC on Versus 2 was the second of two UFC shows that Versus contracted to air in 2010. The cable station has been the longtime home to World Extreme Cagefighting, the UFC's sister promotion. Officials haven't confirmed if UFC shows will return to the Versus lineup in 2011.

The MMA ratings are solid for Versus, which averages approximately 500,000 viewers for WEC events, though the numbers fluctuate wildly depending on the depth of the fight cards. However, they still fall short to those generated by the UFC's usual cable partner, Spike TV, which usually draws in the 1.5 million to 2 million range for events of similar prominence.

Wonder how well Faber can draw these days now that he's out of the title picture.

Faber is a better TV draw than 90% of the UFC fighters, this is not news rob.

WEC is Zuffa, I don't understand why rob doesnt hate WEC equally. It's just UFC with tiny latinos & japs and a blue mat.

It did something like 150-175k (high end estimate). Early on, a lot of experts thought it would do iin the 70-80 range, that's how I felt until the hype kicked up at the end, I thought it would do the 100k hardcore baseline that Affliction was doing, but they clearly drew some casuals.

In terms of buy rate thats pretty low compared to UFC events. So until he pulls in those kind of numbers how can he be better than the entire UFC?

Because if he was in the UFC, and it was a UFC event, he'd easily be a top draw with his level of charisma & ability, combined with the UFC brand name & hype machine.

Just check his ratings on Versus.

So 800,000 to over a million people will pay 50 bucks to watch a UFC PPV, but they can only get 900,000 for a free UFC on a station that is roughly 80 million homes?

There have not been any other non-UFC PPVs to do over 100k IIRC.

PRIDE from Las Vegas did 70k, Shamrock/Baroni did something like 35k (an amazing number considering they had no TV to promote it), and the K1 Dynamite disaster from LA w/Lesnar did something like 30 or 40k.
