Yeah, they did an event there in June. However, the insurance and political hoops they went through in the area may make it unlikely they go back any time soon

Vancouver is odd since they've been having legal battles with it for a while. It was banned for a while but then lifted not to long ago. A lot of back and forth going on there.

The other plus is, the local people can start running events, not just the big companies. I know around where we live they have the "Battle at the Boarder" which is a Cananda vs USA thing, and it is always held in the US because we didn't have it. So now they can do it here a well. MMA is one of those sports that people just don't understand and they think it is a bunch of guys just beating the shit out of each other. I'm not a huge into the sport, but even I understand these guys are trained in a fighting style and train for each fight. Refs are there to make sure nothing serious happens and will stop a fight as soon as someone is about to get seirously hurt or can't defend themself. So the sport is not barbaric in any shape. No more so then boxing, just instead of using only fists, you can use a wider range of things.

If they don't have him headlining the first show in Canada, they are dumb. Sure any MMA event will draw huge, but he will make it so people are sitting outside waiting for tickets for four days in the Canadian winter.

Fuck visual. Wrestlemania has been in the skydome and it isn't much bigger. Sure, if you get guys doing submissions all night on the mat, it could suck, but no doubt you would get tons of people coming just to be a part of the show. Make it into a huge thing. Of course. also make the card one of the sickest cards in MMA history. Put a fight with Brock and a fight with GSP on the card and watch.
