Don Frye with some Texas Straight Talk

"We have all had to watch Brock Lesnar fart around. That guy is an embarrassment. God damn, you get to hand pick his opponents for him for awhile then someone who is a half way decent athlete comes along and hits him once and he pisses his pants and runs. If he wasn't in a cage he would still be running."
lol! Gotta love Don Frye man.

It's like the MMA world was just waiting for the guy to lose to pile on.

If he wins, it's hand picked opponents, if he loses, he's a bum.

    Talk about embarrassing.

Brock makes people emotional, and say things without thinking. I don't get it.

"Man, I think he must return to his fake fights that it’ll be best for him. I’ve always said that, he’s not a better fighter than Fedor, or Minotauro, or Cigano… He’s not the number one. I’ve said that when Werdum beat Fedor, who would become the number one? To me, it must have been Wedum because he had just beat the number one, but no. they put Brock Lesnar as the first, Werdum on the second place and Fedor in third. For sure now the top position is on good hands because Cain is a great fighter, he’s complete, has proven to have a good ground game, a good Wrestling and he’s a good exchanger. Now it’s on good hands. It was ridiculous for us, fighters, to see Brock Lesnar with only four or five bouts being considered the top athlete on earth, it’s ridiculous. And people like Cain Velasquez, Cigano, Fedor and Minotauro coming after Brock Lesnar… He’s a fake fighter."

In that same interview, Frye said Couture would beat Velasquez.

I wouldn't take anything the dude says seriously...unless of course, it's dating advice.

There have only been four UFC heavyweight champions who were not pro wrestlers at some point, and there have been over 100 UFC fighters who have also been pro wrestlers.

That's an awful lot of "fake fighters". Big Foot talking out of his ass, I don't know why these fighters lower themselves to this nonsense.

Funny how none of these guys were running there mouths when Brock was beating everyone.

sidenote-every one of these hypocrites would line up around the block for a fight with Brock. They should be thanking him for taking the sport to new heights, not making jealous comments like catty schoolgirls

lol @ Brock beating everyone, 4 wins is everyone now? & of course they would want to fight him. Wasn't everyone lining up to fight Kimbo as well? That doesn't make them a hypocrite. Personally when I think about fighters who took the sport to a new level I think about Randy Couture, Chuck, Hughes, Penn, Rampage, Wand, etc.

Hughes, Penn, Rampage, and Wand are just great fighters who have just been along for the ride. None of them took anything to a new level.

You had Royce Gracie & Ken Shamrock who put it on the map, then you had the dark ages, then you had TUF which made stars out of Chuck & Randy, Tito who broke records with Ken, then you had Brock who took it to another level with the 1M+ buyrates. Those are your primary "took it up a level" fighters. Royce, Ken, Tito, Chuck, Randy, Brock.

You have other people like Gina Carano, Kimbo, maybe Faber on a small scale, and Frank Shamrock in San Jose as a local draw & biggest "dark ages" star who you can make a case for. Maybe one or two other minor players like Tank Abbott who i'm forgetting.

That's North America. Japan would look different, with fighters like Rickson Gracie, Bob Sapp, Nobuhiku Takada, Cro Cop, the entire Pancrase crew, Sakuraba, etc

I left off Griffin & Bonner, who had the most important fight in MMA history. Without that slugfest, a lot of the new TUF fans don't get addicted to the sport, and the UFC boom might have taken longer to happen or not happened at all.

Sakuraba vs. Royce > Griffin vs. Bonnar.

I don't have anything against Lesnar, I think he's an ok guy. Can't fault him for taking advantage of a great opportunity either. I think it was a bad move and a bit hypocritical of Dana to thrust Lesnar into a championship role so soon, instead of allowing him the time necessary to develop as a fighter. What made it worse was how he was trumpeting him as the best HW in the world. The whole situation just made the UFC look a bit amateur in that regard IMO. Your saying that this guy is the best, meanwhile he hasn't learned how to take a punch yet? Not a good look.

And if Velasquez gets knocked out by JDS, people will shit on him.

Was Frye a legend before the PRIDE fights with Shamrock and Takayama? Someone school me.
