ROH Final Battle 2010 - Tonight

The build for this show has been fantastic. If you have a decent internet connection, this show will be well worth the $14.95. The best hyped show in ROH history, gotta give credit to Cornette, Dave Lagana, and yes, even Adam Pearce, who booked most of these feuds to peak here. Final Battle always signals transition, as Delirious gets handed the ball as booker in 2011 and puts his fingerprints on the product.

Kevin Steen vs. El Generico - Fight Without Honor: the unquestioned pro wrestling feud of the year for 2010. If Steen loses, he quits ROH. If Generico loses, he unmasks.

Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards - ROH World Title: Richards will win the belt, he's the right guy at the right time, and 2011 is his time. He will win here, and go on to have a legendary run like Samoa Joe, Brian Danielson, and Nigel McGuinness before him. Look for a Strong face turn and elimination of the Truth Martini gimmick (wishful thinking?).

The Briscoes & Papa Briscoe vs. The Kings Of Wrestling (Chris Hero & Claudio Castagnoli) & Shane Hagadorn: another match with a fantastic builup, with the story here being Papa Brsiscoe getting his hands on Hagadorn. I expect something creative here, .both teams need something fresh when this is over.

Christopher Daniels vs. Homicide: billed as ROH legends face off. Winner will likely move into title picture.

Eddie Edwards vs. Sonjay Dutt: Dutt replaces injured Kenny Omega. Should be a solid match.

Awesome Kong & Daizee Haze vs. Sara Del Rey & Serena: meh women..at least its good workers.

Prelims featuring Colt Cabana, All Night Express, TJ Perkins, more.

Just watched it. Great show.

The opener was fan-fucking-tastic. Kyle O'Reilly & Adam Cole with their coming out party. Kenny King is always great, and Rhett Titus has come a long way from his days as a student match jobber. Better than any WWE match I saw all year.

Cabana/TJ Perkins was not my cup of tea. Not into that style, flat finish.

Del Rey/Sarina over Haze/Kong was OK. It's women, so that's the highest praise you are getting out of me.

Edwards/Dutt was a typical ROH mid card match with two solid workers. 2011 will be the breakout of Eddie Edwards.

I didn't like Fallen Angel/Homicide. Nothing wrong with it, but it didn't do anything for me.

Briscoes/Kings of Wrestling was exactly what I expected. Papa Briscoe got his spots in. This crowd clearly doesnt watch the TV, because they no sold The Prodigy earlier in the night ("Who are you" chants), and boo'd Papa Briscoe.

World Title match was off the charts good. Not the match of the year level, maybe a half notch below, but still tremendous. Shocked Davey didnt win. Interesting finish, with Davey passing out of exhaustion.

Generico/Steen was a stunt show, but that's what the storyline demanded. I thought for a split second that Cabana might turn, but then I realised he's Colt Cabana and will never fucking turn. He's unturnable. Babyface for life. FEUD OF THE YEAR, hands down, end of story. Nothing in the world this year had the buildup of this match, not HBK/Taker, not KENTA/Marufuji, not Danielson/Miz, not Undertaker/Kane, NOTHING. Steen is the fucking man, and I hope the rumors of his retirement are either false, or the typical deal where he misses it and comes back. Where does Generico go from here?
