Daniel Gracie Joins Bellator 205 Tournament

He's the first man announced for the season 4 tournament.

Gracie made his MMA debut in 2002 but recently took a four-year hiatus from the sport to heal a nagging elbow injury. While he previously fought primary at heavyweight, Gracie said he's excited at the prospect of success at 205 pounds.

"I feel faster and like my technique is better when I fight at light heavyweight," Gracie stated. "I also feel like my cardio is much improved, and I'm much more explosive at 205 pounds. I feel like I'm just better all around at light heavyweight."

A fourth-degree jiu-jitsu black belt, four of Gracie's MMA wins have come via submission. Gracie currently trains with his cousin, Renzo Gracie, and he's confident in his chances to claim Bellator's first-ever 205-pound belt.

"I'm imagining myself winning this tournament; I have nothing but winning this tournament on my mind right now," Gracie stated. "Of course I know that anything can happen in MMA, but one thing I guarantee everyone that tunes in is that I'm going to put on a great show. You can bet on that."

This season can't be as bad their HW tourney, can it?

Gracie has 5 career wins (5-2-1)

-2 came against pro wrestlers (Takashi Sugiura & Shinsuke Nakamura, awesome pro wrestlers, but still pro wrestlers)

-1 win over a washed up Wes Sims (who he also drew with)

      -2 wins over cans

He has faced two legit fighters, in thier prime (Kazuhiro Nakamura & Allen Goes) and lost to both.

To me, he has a lot to prove. This tournament will have a caliber of fighter better than he has faced for most of his career.

Nothing can possibly be worse than that. Most of those heavies were shit fighters, and the ones that could fight were boring stylistically.

Plus, the other tourney was women. I thought the season was awful.

The season was a letdown considering the previous two seasons were pretty damn fun overall.

With that said, Ben Askren was fun to follow. Joe Warren was cool. Eddie Alvarez-Roger Huerta was the fight of the season. Hector Lombard had a poor showing in his title defense.

Don't remember much from the bantamweight tournament.
