    Anderson Silva's Home

    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AcLTG4NOaz8[/ame]

Lessons learned: Anderson likes cheese balls & he weighs 220 lbs at the time that was filmed.

    Totally thought this was porn.

Anderson Silva is a huge man, it makes no sense for GSP to fight him, this isnt a video game.

It makes perfect sense, they're the two best fighters in the UFC. Put em at a catch weight and find out who's the P4P best. If this was PRIDE the fight would be in the books by now.

It makes no sense for GSP to get in a cage with a guy that much bigger than him, which is why he has never been very excited about the idea. He's a company guy and will do what he's asked, but he tells people privately he doesnt think it's a good idea.

Weight classes exist for a reason.

If it was PRIDE, Silva would have tapped out to some more lower-tier Japanese fighters.

GSP is smart for not immediately agreeing to step in the ring with Anderson. He bulked up recently and reportedly walks around at only 195 or so. He's never been a huge weight cutter. Anderson walks around at least 220 now. And the weight cutting culture wasn't as rampant back in the days of PRIDE - or in Japan, period - as it is in the US today.

GSP shouldnt do it, he isnt even a 'huge' WW, And1 on the other hand is a big ass MW

Not that GSP couldnt win, but no reason for him to do it, And1 should be looking to go to LHW if he wants to fight guys in a different weight class

GSP said he never would fight Silva unless he had moved up MW permanently. wants to put more weight on his frame and get used to it for a while.

It happened in Pride all the time, so why can't GSP do it? Anderson has fought bigger guys before, heck he's still willing to since he wants to move to HW. GSP and his fans sound scared to me.

Makes zero sense for GSP to fight a guy who'd be over 20 pounds heavier than he is.

All i'm saying, is it makes little sense for GSP to take a fight giving up that much size.

Silva can move all the way to heavyweight, because he walks around at 220. He weighs about the same as Couture and Fedor. He's a very large, very tall, very lanky guy with huge bone structure who can pull of cutting gigantic amounts of weight because of his frame.

GSP from what I understand doesnt really cut much, if anything. He's not a little smaller than Silva, he's significantly smaller.

If the fight ever happens, i'd be first in line, but I just can't see it.

First of all, you can't compare what when on in PRIDE with the current landscape in today's MMA, especially now that the sport is bigger and there is more at stake. You can say "But PRIDE did it!" all you'd like but the situations have changed since then. In PRIDE most of the fights were between guys at or near their normal walking weight in a period where weight cutting wasn't the norm and when there were fights with such large weight discrepancies there were rule changes. In today's climate, it's much easier to move down than it is to bulk up. Yoshihiro Akiyama continues to fight closer to his walking weight at 185 instead of cutting to 170 and has regularly been dwarfed by his opponents and has been on the losing end because of it.

Secondly, it's so much an issue with that he can't fight Silva at HW, it's an issue of being smart. St. Pierre would be giving up a significant weight, length and height advantage. He's not a particularly large WW while Silva is a huge at 185 - hell, he's large at 205 as well. It'd be like asking Frankie Edgar or Gray Maynard to give up their size to fight St. Pierre or Thiago Alves.
