The Reem vs Werdum is for all the belts

The Reem is the Strikeforce and DREAM HW Champ

The UFC title went from Couture to Enson, Enson to Kerr, Kerr to Fujita, Fujita to Fedor I believe, forgot the order but it stops at Fedor

Pride’s belt went from Nog to Fedor

WAMMA (lol) created for Fedor, Fedor was the linear HW champ of Pride, UFC and WAMMA, even Rings KOK champ, now Werdum has that honor

This is one of the most meaningful fights in MMA history

    That's cool.

Still not confirmed yet whether the actual physical belt will be on the line. I know Coker wants it to be but he has to get some cooperation from the commissions to get each fight in the tourney as 5 rounds.

I'm pretty sure the Strikeforce title will be defended no matter what

I'm under the impression they'll have all 5-round fights or all 3-round fights. No mixing.

I read they will be mixed, but they want to make it fair so they are pushing for 5 rounders for all the fights

If Overeem goes non-title that would be lame, non-title have no place within your division of you're the champ

You can even trace the IFL Heavyweight Title to the Overeem/Werdum fight:

Roy Nelson d. Antoine Jaoude, IFL World GP Finals
            Nelson d. Fabiano Scherner, IFL
            Nelson d. Brad Imes, IFL
Andrei Arlovski d. Roy Nelson, EliteXC
            Fedor d. Andrei Arlovski, Affliction
            Fedor d. Brett Rogers, Strikeforce
            Werdum d. Fedor, Strikeforce

I'm trying desperately to find more. I love shit like this.

The WEC Heavyweight Title stops at Brian Olsen, who has still yet to lose since the title was vacated by Zuffa upon the purchase. He appears to be retired, inactive for the last two years.

I even traced the YAMMA PIT FIGHTING TITLE, and oddly enough, it resides with Feijao (Travis Wuiff to King Mo to Feijao).

It's pretty amazing that none of these linear titles go through or stayed with any of the UFC HW's seeing how they have so many guys

wouldnt the IFL HW belt have belonged to Rothwell linearly? Of course, it doesnt really matter for the purposes of this discussion as Arlovski was the first person to beat Rothwell post IFL and then he lost it to Fedor

Rothwell was undefeated and the #1 seed for the Gran Prix, but he pulled out (along with many others) when it became clear IFL was on its last legs. Roy Nelson won the tournament, and made two successful title defenses, before IFL closed for good. Nelson then lost to Arlovski in EliteXC.

LOL the linear title shit is great. Doesnt necessarily mean a whole lot but its fun for sure. After THE REEM destroys Werdum (and is there any doubt that he will), all you fuckers are gonna try to write him off again. After he brutalizes Fedor, then everyones gonna be quiet for a while. When he wins the tournament, everyones gonna try to jump on THE REEM team, but UH UH! Cant jump on this bandwagon sluts. THE REEM will be the undeniable, unquestioned, unprecedentedly awesome, #1 ranked HW in the entire universe. And eventually of all time.

                              Balee dat!
