The UFC has 1 upped the Strikeforce HW GP

Seems like JDS will now be fighting someone for the new UFC HW INTERIM TITLE

So this means there will be 2 UFC HW CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD once again which will lead to the true champion of MMA when they finally fight, the stakes just got higher

I hate interim titles. Strip the champ or wait out the injury.

that's basically what happens tho... the champ isn't fighting and somebody else is known to be the champ, contenders can't get a fight with the injured champion. Basically when said injured fighter comes back he's the one fighting to earn the championship, they almost switch roles.

Its because guys don't want to stay on the shelf waiting for a fight, they want to make money. I understand that, but why does the fight have to be for a fake belt? The end game is the same...win and you face the champ when he is ready. The interim title reign doesn't "count" anyway.

5 rounds. Thats the biggest reason for me. Until commissions allow 5 round non-title fights, I want these big fights to be 5 rounds.

Though it's unlikely this one goes that far

they already do in vegas, but the UFC chooses not to use them

but hey, why give more to the fans when they dont ask for it or will pay just as much for 3 rounds?

Why would any promotion use special rules in one state and other rules in another? Should be even across the board, no?

It's called moving the sport forward, so many non title main event matches should have been 3 rounds, the fans have been robbed of some great fights because of Zuffa not wanting to give more

Coker is trying to move the sport forward, tournaments, 5 round non-title fights, those are great things that fans should want, but the UFC fan isnt that smart and just take what they offer

If all the sanctioned states want to give them the ability to have all main events (titles or nontitles) be five rounds, then by all means, they should go for it. Until that happens and they refuse to do it, can't knock them.

Perhaps Coker could do us a favor and push Showtime to you know....ADVERTISE?! That would go a long way in moving the sport forward.

                    LOL, you crack me up

I'm talking about 5 round fights, tournaments, giving the fans more, moving the sport forward and you want to bring up advertising, let me guess, next you will throw in made up ppv buys from a pro wrestling blogger

Your conspiracy theories would make Jesse The Body proud.

One tournament, 5 round fights, all great.

Why are you satisfied with Strikeforce settling? They should be doing their best to make sure every sports fan in America knows about this tournament.

Not a fan of too many 5 round fights. Too many potential snoozers with the rampant lay and prayers. 3 means guys will have to go harder if they fall behind early.

I would prefer 4 rounds and a sudden victory round if the cards are a draw after 4.
Best reason to have a license.

Every fight should be 5 rounds imo. I want to see more MMA. I could care less which promotion is running the show. I like all MMA. I'm not biased.

                            Every fight?

If every fight was 5 rounds, we'd actually see less since they would schedule fewer fights for PPVs or TV (time limitations).
