Dragon Gate USA announces TWO live iPPV's for this weekend's tour

In a historic agreement, Dragon Gate USA and Go Fight Live will present two live iPPVS this weekend. This Friday at 7pm EST will be "United: NYC" from Manhattan and this Saturday at 8pm EST will be "United: Philly" from South Philadelphia. Go to www.GoFightLive.tv to order both events. Visit www.DGUSA.tv for more info on both these events.

This move shoots DGUSA into the modern era of this rising form of media. Both events will feature matches in the round robin tournament to determine the first Open The United Gate Champions, which will serve as the tag team titles for DGUSA. Open The Freedom Gate Champion BxB Hulk is set to defend the title on both shows, but before we can confirm the Philly title match he has to make it past arch-rival YAMATO with the belt in NYC.

Here's the direct link to order the 1/29 Philly event:

"This is the most important weekend in DGUSA history," DGUSA VP Gabe Sapolsky said. "We are going to define exactly who we are on these events. The opportunity to broadcast the matches and happenings of this weekend live is huge. We will take full advantage of it."

Fans can help us create an exciting live atmosphere by coming to these events. You can experience both the NYC and Philly shows in person. Go to www.DGUSA.tv or call 267-519-9744 to order tickets or for more information.

This is great news. I have no idea why the final night of the tour is the only show not being done for PPV, but at $14.95, this is a great chance to sample Dragon Gate if you've never seen it before. It's not for everybody. Fast paced, high flying, 1000 MPH.

If I had to recommend one or the other, i'd say order the Saturday show from Philly. The ECW Arena crowd will be hot for a PPV, plus you get the CHIKARA guys in the six man freestyle match (Frightmare was the Wrestling Observer Rookie Of The Year last year, and is fun to watch, plus Jigsaw is always awesome). The tag tournament matches will be awesome on both shows. The NYC show has the advantage of having BxB Hulk vs YAMATO. Everyone knows i'm a YAMATO mark.

Either way, cant go wrong for $15, and if you like fast paced, innovative wrestling, you will love this. All of the big Dragon Gate stars, plus the US indy guys like Ricochet, Firghtmare, Jigsaw, Chuck Taylor, Rich Swann, plus AUSTIN ARIES on both shows.

Listening to Sapolsky talk on Figure Four Daily, and from what I hear from my top secret SOURCES, it looks like DGUSA will do two iPPV's on each three card tour, with the third show filmed for standard PPV.

The advantage of iPPV is that you can make a small profit off of a very small amount of buys.

Tonight and tommorow night, support high quality wrestling. You can order both shows for less money combined (less than $30) than it will cost you to to order WWE Royal Rumble.

Just watched the NYC show. Decent, nothing spectacular. I hated the venue. The ring was set up in the middle of a fucking restaurant, with people eating in booths next to the ring. Absurd to see guys brawling at ringside, while people eat steaks a few feet away. Odd. Here is a SPOLIER FREE review:

Open The Freedom Gate Title Match
            BxB Hulk defends vs. YAMATO
This match rocked. Best match of the night. YAMATO is fucking awesome, loaded with charisma, and still my favorite wrestler in the world right now. Kinda botched the finish, but the rest was great, including YAMATO stealing a drink off one of the tables, chugging it, and everyone at the table selling it. I died.

Open The United Gate Title Tournament Match
CIMA & Dragon Kid vs. Masato Yoshino & PAC
Blah match with a hot finish. Yoshino is on fire right now, easy to see why he is the man in DG these days. I still don't get the hype for Pac.

Open The United Gate Title Tournament Match
Naruki Doi & Ricochet vs. Chuck Taylor & Johnny Gargano
Good stuff. I picked Gargano & Taylor to win the tournament. Doi took a step back, this match was all about the three young indy guys.

            Grudge Match #1
            Austin Aries vs. Rich Swann
Good storytelling. Swann is a good looking young wrestler. Aries has dropped the ROH "greatest man to ever live" gimmick and is back to being the old Aries. Not a negative in this setting, as he's positioned as the veteran babyface who the heels want to prove themselves against. Seems like yesterday Aries was leading Generation Next, now he's the crafty veteran. Weird.

            Grudge Match #2
            Jigsaw vs. Jon Moxley
I don't get Moxley, or why Gabe loves him so much. Jigsaw is Jigsaw, always solid.

            Special Challenge Match
            Jimmy Jacobs vs. Brodie Lee
Meh. I don't like either guy. Jacobs is one of the most overated guys around and has never appealed to me. Lee is pushed as a monster, which is fine in the land of midget japs, but i've stood right next to the man and he is no taller than 6'3 or 6'4. STOP SAYING HE'S NEARLY 7 ft TALL.

            Special Attraction Match
            Akira Tozawa vs. Sami Callihan
Callihan is a piece of shit indy geek. He is easily the worst "major league" wrestler going today. I can't stand him. Tozawa is the least charismatic Dragon Gate guy from Japan. I didn't like this, but it was mostly because Callihan is so fucking terrible.

That venue really, really hurt the show. I had a hard time getting into it. Atmosphere matters in wrestling, a hot crowd in a good setting can make average matches good and good matches great. This crowd/venue was the opposite, dragging everything down a notch. I'm going to watch last night's Philly show later tonight after work, and despite the on paper weaker lineup, it will come off a million times better from ECW Arena.

The two iPPV's did 500 buys each.

YAMATO should have been champion from the start, I like BB Hulk, but YAMATO is the shit.

The second show was better. These can still be ordered at any time if any of you guys were on the fence but saw the good reviews.
