Way too plain, the logo looks like something I could make in paint and as has been pointed out, is just a straight rip of the Leafs.
Downgrade.
Gatorade logo + Toronto Colors
It's like some of the baseball teams making jersey / logo changes from w/e color they were before to red and white. I just hope other NHL teams decide to do the same and there's more blue and white jerseys..
I like how they want to go classic... yet, they've only been around since 1992. Go with a simple modern look and stop trying to pass yourself off as classic.

This. The faux-retro look needs to die. Fucking Panthers and Lightning have these full circle logos (completely ripping the Pens' retro logo) now, as well as the Minnesota Wild. You're fucking expansion teams, two of which are in fucking Florida ... You are not a traditional team, don't try to pretend to be.
Questionable marketing decision. Kind of different but somewhat related - the Thrashers are attempting to reach non-hockey fans by promoting their black players. That's a really innovative approach and one that I think more sun belt teams should use. Not necessarily the black players angle, but you have to pick something that makes you accessible to non-traditional fans.
You aren't going to win over the random transplants who are from Boston or NY but working in the south. They will always go to your games in a Bruins sweater when the Bruins are in town. But you can try to win new fans with a different approach.
The Thrashers are changing their 3rd jersey for next season, and I'm gonna be pissed if go with a faux-retro knockoff like their Florida neighbors. If they come up with something sharp, it could boost merch sales and coincide with their influx of black fans to actually make them somewhat relevant. Better to be known as the black team than as the team nobody cares about.
Odd, I never saw that Nashville circle logo and have never seen it used for the team. Looks like someone slapped a jpg in a circle and called it a day.
I don't mind teams trying to get a retro look logo. Its ok to use, just don't make it an every day thing. Because 20-30 years down the road, the original logo is going to be the retro one and that is what you should be going behind.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.
