    So i'm watching WWE Superstars....

...and it turns out that Tyler Reks, who used to do the surfer geek gimmick in ECW, but now does a John Travolta from Battlefield Earth gimmick, uses the BURNING HAMMER as his finisher. I almost died.

Of course, his version looks nothing like this:

    Here is Reks version:

In other news, on the same show, Woo Woo Woo Guy & Primo faced Yoshi Tatsu & David Hart Smith. And yes, it was spectacular.

The main event was Tyson Kidd vs. R-Truth. Also a fine match.

Remember how awesome Velocity was back in the day? Watch Superstars.

Easilly one of my favorites. It looks like a regular tag team with Primo, who also is very good.

        Same here.

Reks' (and a lot of WWE guys for that matter) finisher is really tame and doesn't look like it hurts in comparison to Kobashi's.

I'm not sure why, he just has that old school feel to me.

He's different. He's unique. He stands out. It goes with that suspend disbelief thing and the fact that wrestling use to be filled with freaks and weirdos. Not 6'4, tanned guys with short hair in black trunks.

The biggest pop I ever seen Reks get was when he was still in FCW.

Obviously the man was wrestling in a tool shed with like 5 people watching him (FCW Arena is bigger in person but to compare it to other "venues," it's a shoebox) but the scene was LOUD.

It was during a double taping for the local Tampa TV shows, after the crowd saw a huge beatdown by the hands of the local heel stable on Reks to keep him away from the Champ (I think it was Drew McIntyre at the time).

When the title match happened, it was back-and-forth, ending with Reks taking a huge Superbomb from the top, getting up and finishing the Champ for the 1-2-3.

You'd think Hulk Hogan slammed Andre all over again it was so loud.

Way to tame down an amazing finisher...

I didn't see tons, but what I did see of Reks when he was in FCW impressed me. He looked better than Alex Riley and at least on level to Drew McIntyre. He'll bomb out of the WWE most likely and be another "coulda been"...

Lack of a push and a personal desire to better yourself in the ring AND on the mic will do that to you.

Riley is great. He has something that Reks doesn't have...the personality and charisma to get himself over in the E.

                  Very talented young guy.

Does Superstars actually have any kind of storylines play out...or, just some undercard matches?

They used to bring up storylines when they had bigger names instead of jobbers and low carders coming out...

Now it's ham-and-eggers fighting 3 or 4 matches against each other to see who can get the most heat from the crowd and possibly a spot as a curtain jerker later on.
