Fedor Will Not Retire, Preparing for More Fights

Fedor - "I rushed to declare my retirement. I will fight more. Possibly, I will return to the Heavyweight Grand-Prix. I am capable of having a few more fights. I didn't make any analysis yet on why I lost. I need to recover, I can't see very well yet."

Vladimir Voronov, SAMBO coach - "It's very nice that Fedor still has his fighting spirit, he is ready to rip everyone apart right now. Yes, his eye is swollen, but it will heal. Most importantly for him is not to have any psychological pressure. After this, he will train with a triple effort."

Alexander Michkov, striking coach - "Fedor is capable to return to the tournament. Everybody stumbles; this is not the end of the world."

Awesome news. Who else could he fight? Isn't his contract up or something?

Some kind of super fight with both guys having recently lost

Fedor signed a new deal before this fight so he has a long contract, if he fights again.

Story was Scott Coker wants to book Fedor against the Werdum/Overeem loser (even if Overeem loses, he's still the champ...people would still want that fight).

Bringing him back as an alternate would be a huge mistake. This isn't Japan. The culture is different. Its more about sport here. Loser goes home. Japan is about entertainment first.

          Don't do it, Scott.

A fedor/overeem title fight, with both men coming off losses, is also short sighted.

Best way to book fedor is as a "comeback" story. Working back to the top. America will turn on SF if they aren't careful here.

I think you are reading to much into cokers comments Warner

They think, which may not happen as we know how MMA is, that Overeem will beat Werdum, than its easy, Fedor vs Werdum II, no brainer, it doesnt even have to be an 'alternate fight', it sales it self

Now if Werdum pulls it off, we probably wont see Fedor vs The Reem, and if we did, it would probably be non-title, of course that starts more issues, but this tournament can easily become a clusterfuck with Overeem losing in the first round, but you know what, it creates matches and they're interesting matches

I think Coker throws out comments like this than see's what his next move is based of some reaction, he isnt stupid

I got to say Warner, you need to not align yourself with this Meltzer guy, he is a clown and not a serious journalist

Over the last couple days his great thoughts are 'SF is in a WAR, they need to act like it, the UFC knows it's a WAR' and not this gem 'The Russians are making Fedor fight!'

Drop this clown, he wants this to be WWF vs WCW and bring back the days of the Wrestling USA vs Russia days or soemthing, he is living in a fantasy land

rob's misplaced hate for Meltzer is

About the war comments, Meltzer brought it up b/c during the SF broadcast, they put over the UFC and its fighters.

Rob, MMA is not and will never be pure sport.

Occasionally, Rogan will bring up a fighter not under UFC contract but he never goes, "Oh, did you see that crazy Strikeforce fight last week?"

They did not 'put over' the UFC, MMA is a vast sport, Strikeforce does not operate in a bubble

Mentioning for 5 seconds about And1's kick means nothing, you guys need to break out of the this pro wrestling WWF vs WCW crap

Also, HDNet did the prelims, they can interview and ask any questions they want, they had Greg Jackson on, so they asked about his fighters

I was actually going to write an extensive piece on the total embassment that was for HDNet to be talking to Greg Jackson about UFC fighters during a SF show.

This is exactly why Dana is so smart to not give up production control to HBO or a network.

While it may not be "putting UFC over" in a sense (debateable), it serves absolutely zero purpose to SF. I don't blame HDNet, because they produced the show and can do what they want. They cover the sport well. But this is what happens when you let someone on the outside produce your programming.

Can someone copy & paste whatever Meltzer said? I can't find it.

Take some advice, don't write it, you're coming off as a Meltzer copycat at this point, do your own thing

You guys still havent figured out that Strikeforce/Showtime would prefer to be linked with the UFC as in MMA as a whole, they don't want to be a direct competitor, call the UFC out or act like they don't exist

Having the prelims on HDNet is better than not having prelims shown, they are linking themselves with MMA, so what if they interview Gregg Jackson than talk about someone who fights in the UFC, it is more of a sport that way, not none of this bubble shit the UFC does and frankly Strikeforce doesnt care at this point

                              Strikeforce is their direct competitor.
