Some guy who calls himself 'Fair&Balanced' over on the schill board posted this, he's a great poster with a fair perspective. He's also devilishly handsome and a fantastic lover, according to larry's mom. Here is the post:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Last weekends show did a 2.35 in males 18-35, and the Fedor fight did an amazing 3.55 in the same demo.
These are both record numbers in the young male demo for a Showtime event. Usually Strikeforce draws an older crowd.
As I suspected with the odd text poll results (Arlovski laughably getting 11%), this data indicates that a large number of casual UFC fans bought into the idea of not only seeing Fedor, but also that the GP is a big deal. Every fight on the card delivered, especially the Fedor fight which will end up being legendary, so it's hard not to think all of the new viewers liked what they saw.
With Gina coming back, SF is poised to capitolize on not only getting these new viewers to take a peek at the product, but if they keep delivering great shows like this past weekend, these viewers will stick around and become fans.
The important thing now, is to not overeact if the Hendo number comes in weak. He's overated as a draw, and they key number moving forward will be the next GP event. Only then will we know if this past weekend was all about Fedor, and even if it was, if the memorable night of fights was enough to get people back for the next set of matchups.
