Forgot to mention, the fact that the same two commercials were running over and over is a bad sign, and should tell you what advertisers are thinking.
Bellator is not going to do well tonight ratings wise

That doesnt sound good Warner, thought they would be at least over 100k range, I read somewhere that MTV2 trumps Spike, oh well
Anway, not sure what Strikeforce wil do, the HW GP was there best effort ever, but this shot didnt have much star power besides Hendo
Should do better than Hendo vs Babalu I would hope which averaged 350,000, peaked at 465,000Liquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

100k would be cause for legit celebration.
But again, even that number is essentially worthless long term, unless execs from other (bigger) networks are keeping one eye on them. Doubtful since he signed them on for three years.Comment

not that this has anything to do with the ratings, if Bellator was smart they wouldnt even have a champion that keeps the belt
Just have a season winner and put them back in the tournament, Alvarez, Lombard, etc..should be fighting more often and would really make it fun
I read this on another board like last year, good idea IMOLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

I don't like that idea. There's no end game. Great, Lombard wins the season 1 tournament. Now he's just another shlub in the season two field?
There's got to be something they're chasing besides a $100,000 check and plays out throughout the seasons.
Besides, being able to promote (well, theoretically promote) CHAMPIONS counts for something.

there is an end game every season, you cant be promoted as 'season 1 winner', '2010 champ' or whatever you want to call it
Fighting HERBERT GOODMAN in non-title fights does nothing for you or the champLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

Good and Hornbuckle really made the title seem important last night. They both talked about being obsessed with getting another crack at Askren. That was either by design or really good editing.
I can see both sides, but I like the "chase the champ" aspect of this. I don't mind the jobber non title fights, it keeps guys busy and when someone pulls an upset you create a star (well, by Bellator standards).Comment

Bellator has the season thing, why not go all the way with it?
Having another champ in the MMA world doesnt mean much
Having Alvarez win the tournament than fight Josh Neer and Huerta who lost in the first round didnt mean squat, Lombard fighting HERBERT GOODMAN meant nothing, imagine if these guys were back in the mix and than you can talk about creating real stars and rivalries, not guys that get forgetten for a season while the other guys fight 3 times

It featured the lightweight champion and one of the biggest names in Bellator history (who was fighting to save some form of redemption in his MMA career) slugging it out. Even though it was non-title, it was a huge fight for both men.

yes, really
anywya, title's are props and promotional tools anyway, it hasnt helped them and keeps there best fighters fighting less qualified guys while the tournament is going on, so it actually hurts them more than help them by having a 'champ'
how about you think about stuff before posting just once, try something different this timeLiquidrob's Top 10 Fighters Rankings

I prefer having champions, bu to say MMA is about aiming for the gold is crazytalk and makes you sound like a schill board loon. You know better.Comment

If you think taking away championships helps Bellator, you're more wacky then previously thought.
First off, Bellator doesn't gain anything one way or another. They have small exposure (although they're at least trying to get pub) and especially now, not having HD, they will always struggle to survive.
This isn't Strikeforce where the heavyweight title has been defended once, two years after it was originally created, against a challenger who was coming off a loss.
Bellator is the only MMA company in the world who has a clear cut formula for creating title contenders. What's wrong with that?
