I agree that Bellator has the most pure champions in all of MMA. I prefer it stays that way, but that's geek talk. I don't think either way would make a business difference.

If you think taking away championships helps Bellator, you're more wacky then previously thought.

First off, Bellator doesn't gain anything one way or another. They have small exposure (although they're at least trying to get pub) and especially now, not having HD, they will always struggle to survive.

This isn't Strikeforce where the heavyweight title has been defended once, two years after it was originally created, against a challenger who was coming off a loss.

Bellator is the only MMA company in the world who has a clear cut formula for creating title contenders. What's wrong with that?
like I suggested, think first, you just contradicted yourself all over the place

so one post you tell me Huerta and Alvarez had the most 'heat', but it was non-title, now he isnt less qualified, but he is coming off a loss and you bring up Strikeforce for no reason? lol as usual

      FOR THE GOLD!

They 'gain' by having there best fighters fight meaningful fights, not non-title fights mixed in with title fights, there 'champ's dont mean much in MMA circles anyway, so its a prop that keeps them from fighting better guys

another one of my thoughts that no one took seriously at the time

Bellator operates like a real sport for the most part, Bellator is the NFL model, UFC and Strikeforce are like the BCS

But the HW GP is a step in the right direction for Strikeforce

          You're interpretations are silly

Alvarez and Huerta had a ton of heat in that fight and it was non-title. Honestly, part of the reason for the heat was I believe the fight was in Philly, but the two biggest stars in the division were slugging it out. The CHAMPION against a BIG NAME.

He wasn't less qualified. He was in a non-title fight where a win would have earned him a spot in the next tournament.

You see Bellator having championship as a hindrance, no way.

Bellator having a 'champ' does nothing for them, zip, proven by Alvarez vs Huerta

Most 'MMA' fans like yourself dont even respect champs besides the UFC champ, Strikeforce is the only smart one currently by just trying to put on great fights, thats what these orgs need to do that are not the UFC, let the BE's, MMAjunkie's keep ripping SF for not being 'legit' for some of there fights while they put on great shows almost every time

But back to my point, the Bellator champ hurts them more them helps them, they can still be 'season champs' but have the ability to fight more often and go for more 'season titles'

              Extremely sad, but true.

Well, guess we agree to disagree.

I like champions more than season winners.

I also prefer Champions to Season Winners.

                    VIVA BELLATOR!

Why wouldn't they? Spike is owned by the same company as MTV & a subsidiary of MTV. Most of the popular cable networks are all under the umbrella of the same two companies.

I think you guys are also forgetting how many homes MTV reaches compared to SHO.

Bellator isn't on MTV though, its on MTV2, which nobody watches. They average like 50k viewers in prime time.

Yeah, its in 80 million homes, but that doesn't matter if no one watches the channel. Its only in 80 million homes because Viacom forces these cab/sat companies to take all of their networks as part of a package. Far more people watch Showtime than MTV2.

They will last as long as whoever is investing wants to keep losing money, or just die if they stay on MTV2. There is no way to grow there.
