Mike Kyle Withdraws From Gegard Mousasi Fight

Mike Kyle Withdraws From Gegard Mousasi Fight -- MMA Fighting
Mike Kyle has been forced to pull out of next week's fight against Gegard Mousasi due to a broken hand suffered in training, Strikeforce director of communications Mike Afromowitz confirmed with MMA Fighting.

Strikeforce is currently looking for a replacement to fight Mousasi, but the organization has yet to sign anyone as of Thursday afternoon.

The Kyle-Mousasi fight was scheduled to be a part of April 9's four-fight card, co-headlined by Nick Diaz vs. Paul Daley and Gilbert Melendez vs. Tatsuya Kawajiri.

Kyle (18-8-1, 1 NC) broke his right hand in a December loss to Antonio Silva. The loss snapped Kyle's six-fight undefeated streak.

Mousasi (30-3-1) is 2-0 since losing his light heavyweight title to Muhammed Lawal last April. He hasn't competed for Strikeforce since the loss to "King Mo."

Also scheduled for the April 9 card in San Diego, is a lightweight bout between Shinya Aoki and Lyle Beerbohm.

Was looking forward to this fight. Maybe this means Takaya can make the main card?

This sucks, was realy looking forward to that match

      They will probably call OSP

I wonder if 'business as usual' will be in affect or will they get someone from the UFC roster to take a shot at Mousasi

I wonder if Luiz Cane is in shape and would be willing to fight on short notice (he won quickly at 128).

I doubt Strikeforce would be able to bring in a UFC guy as a replacement now, though.

I don't think a UFC fighter will want to move down (less money potential), and I doubt the UFC will want to loan any fighters. I know they're under the same umbrella now, but they still want the UFC to be the premier brand. We never saw any UFC fighters sub in for WEC.

            I agree.

Plus, by using a UFC fighter ON THE VERY FIRST SF EVENT UNDER ZUFFA, it would totally contradict what White has been saying all along.

                    Jardine by leg kick.

Mousasi is overrated. He's in there with a professional.
