TUF 14 Coaches According to Meltzer

In the latest Newsletter, he writes that plans from UFC and Spike are to have Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping be TUF 14 coaches.

The season would run from September to December and the winner would get the first title shot against Anderson Silva in 2012.

It won't be made official until after Sonnen's legal issues and licensing issues are taken care of. He has a hearing on April 8th to settle the real estate stuff where he's expected to get a fine and probation. Then he'll have to reapply to get his fight license in Nevada.

He finally got the new newsletter up? Lazy bastard.

Anyway, it doesnt really matter. TUF just did a 1.0, only the hardest of the hardcore UFC geeks care about TUF anymore. Who is the last star to come off that show? The idea has run its course.

TUF played a role in the good number for UFC 98 (Hughes/Serra) and a big role in the million plus number of 114 (Rampage/Rashad).

It has a role and if they can do Bisping/Sonnen, it should help whatever PPV it ends up on.

I'm talking in terms of creating new stars. The first two or three seasons accomplished that. Since, not so much. To be fair, the quality of fighter they are able to get has hurt this aspect.

I think TUF 5 produced the best guys thus far.

TUF 5 - Maynard, Wiman, Lauzon, Emerson, Cole Miller, Gamburyan, and Nate Diaz

          Worst season was TUF 6

TUF 6 - Sotiropolus and Mac Danzig

Has to be season one. A LHW champion, two LW title contenders, a top 3 WW plus two decent guys in Swick and Leben trumps Maynard + mediocrity.

This is a what have you done for me lately world.

Forrest has had one fight in the last 2 years and it was against a over the hill/ LHW Rich Franklin, when we all know Rich should be still fighting at 185.

              I'll take Maynard + Diaz/Miller/Wiman/Lauzon over Ken-Flo and Sanchez.

Swick and Leben are middle of the pack guys, but I'll give you Koscheck.

Gamburyan could be arguably in the top 3-5 range at 145 and once Lay-N-Pray gets the title in this upcoming fight, Season 5 will have had a champ as well.

Season 1 blows away any season. You call Swick and Leben "middle of the pack guys" but that's what just about everyone from Season 5 is.

Season 1 produced multiple legitimate main event stars.

So is Anderson sitting around clipping his toenails till then ?
Best reason to have a license.

My buddy was in New Jersey for the tryouts the other week. Didn't make it, but he did say that the group of guys trying out for this season was a whole bunch of really talented guys.

A Sgt on my base has been invited onto the show for the past two seasons but the Marine Corps won't let him do it. He's got a guaranteed spot on the show when his contract expires this summer
