Bones Injured; Rashad vs. Phil Davis Set

Jon Jones suffered ligament damage in one of his hands and is off the planned August PPV where he was expected to defend his title against Rashad Evans.

Instead, Phil Davis will get the biggest fight of his career, against Evans in Philly.

There goes the expected huge $$$ fight for the time being. If Mr. Wonderful wins....LMAO @ Rashad, guy can't catch a break.

    Rashad stays losing.

I'm pissed they are fast tracking Davis like this. No way is he ready for this fight, but I get it. Rashad has been sitting on his ass forever and all the other contenders at 205 (Rua, Griffin, Machida, Rampage, etc.) are already scheduled. Hell, even Bader is scheduled against Zombie Tito.

It sucks to see Jones and Cain both sidelined for an extended period of time.

so all that camp drama for nothing? If Davis wins I would like him to not fight Jones yet, give him at least another fight first

I would like to see Machida (if he beats Randy) because it's a good style match up against Jones get the next shot

lol @ jones ducking rashad, rashad was going to big brother him

Deerfield Beach, Fla. — Malki Kawa and Glenn Robinson, Partners, Authentic Sport Management, today confirmed that UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon “Bones” Jones has torn tissue in his right hand in the area between his thumb and forefinger. Jones will take the time to allow this injury to heal and then immediately resume his training for his first title defense.

The UFC today announced that “Suga” Rashad Evans will take on “Mr. Wonderful” Phil Davis at UFC 133 on August 6th.

“This is an injury that’s been recurring since I was a college wrestler, it doesn’t affect my punching or grappling, but I am taking the time and the proper measures to correct this now, so that it doesn’t happen again,” said Jones. “I look forward to getting back to training and to my first title defense. As for Rashad, let’s see what happens with Phil Davis. I will be watching that fight with great interest.”

Must have messed him up somehow for him to just out of the blue decide to withdraw from the fight and rest.

Pretty odd because it doesn't sound like a serious injury and they're still 4 months out from the fight. I don't think he's ducking though, sounds like he just wants his camp to be as perfect as possible and I can't blame him for it.

              Sucks for Jones.

Splenda should earn his title shot. He hasn't fought for almost a year now. Phil Davis should be a good adversary.
