Worst person I've ever seen in sports: Bobby Clarke

I just got done reading a book about the 1972 Summit Series between Canada and USSR, and Bobby Clarke comes off as a huge goon. I found some clips of him on Youtube, and the guy is unbelievable.

Breaking a Soviet's ankle in the Summit Series:

Broken face for a Czech player...one of the worst things I've seen:

Him and the Flyers making the Soviets quit during a friendly...

No doubt, Canadians were fucking ruthless during that era of international play. We probably weren't as good as the Russians, we just fucking did shit like that to make our way to victory.

Clarke was the worst of them all.

With the skill of the Russian players, you've got to be a tough, gritty style of team, or at least have a good portion if your players like that. It's the same way today- the Russian players still have a monopoly on skill and not that much toughness, so they can't counter that.

I don't think anyone can counter a broken ankle and/or a broken face.

Eric Belanger did self-dentristry in the playoffs last year.....similar to a broken face.

But I know what you mean........even though there isn't that degree of "gooning" going on in international play, the same rules apply for the Russians- you better bring a gritty game or they will skate by you.

What' worse is Kharlamov was the Russians best player, and that basically took him out of the series. Canada probably doesn't win it if he stayed 100%.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

            "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.
