You think if Strikeforce had done this, say, 6 months ago, that rob's thread title might have been a little different?

LOL. In no way is this a bad thing.

Kudos to ZUFFA for stepping up.

One downside, is you will see guys pulling out of fights more frequently.

of course it would have been , if SF did it it would force the much bigger company (the UFC) to go above and beyond, would have been great(er) for the sport, now the UFC could just do what they want and have the fighters clap like trained seals before them

...because the fighters should be pissed they won't have to pay out of pocket if they're hurt?

I don't get why you're on them for this.

The Fertitta's are huge anti union guys, there casino's are known for union busting, as long as they treat there fighters ok I dont have a problem with it

Just feel bad for the latino fighters though, the casinos did a number on there latino workers, I see why roger huerta left

lmao if you think Huerta not leaving the UFC had anything to do with latino workers in the station casino's.

IIRC, Huerta thought he was worth Liddell money and the UFC said fuck no.

Here's how the new Twitter bonus initiative will work:

Starting June 1, UFC and Strikeforce fighters will be divided into four categories, based on how many Twitter followers they currently have. At the end of each quarter, three fighters from each category will be awarded a $5,000 bonus. The three winners will be based on who has gained the most followers since the start of the quarter, who gained the highest percentage of new followers and who wrote the most creative tweets. White will be the judge of the last category.

At the conclusion of a full calendar year, the UFC will end up paying $240,000 a year to its fighters for their Twitter usage.

That's actually pretty cool and better than having the major sports run away from that stuff.

Just hope fighters don't start doing insane shit to get more followers.

More money to the fighters = rob bitching Bizzaro
