Don't be scared frenchie (Diaz vs GSP at UFC 140)

It appears the first major cross-promotional fight between the UFC and Strikeforce could be coming to a head within the next few days.

After beating Jake Shields at UFC 129 in Toronto, it looked like Georges St-Pierre had all but cleaned out the best of the best in the welterweight division… except for one person. That one person is on the verge of signing to face St-Pierre later this year in a 170-pound title bout.

Nick Diaz is likely to face St-Pierre for his next UFC welterweight title defense in 2011, with all signs pointing towards a December showdown in Montreal.

Sources have indicated to MMAWeekly.com that a deal is imminent and the fight could be announced as early as next week. Like any potential deal, there is always the chance something could change at the 11th hour, but St-Pierre vs. Diaz is almost a certainty at this point.

Remember when I said GSP vs Diaz is a lock by the end of the year and Empire went on some rant based on Dana's "business as usual" quote.

Lulz @ you kid.. this was too easy to call.

when was this? back when the sale came down?

This was the only fight available once Fitch went down.

Yes. You rode Daddy's Dana's word like a bible verse, as you usually do. I guaranteed they would fight before the end of the year, and here we are.

This fight was their only option as of late March.

Now the question is...will anyone emerge by the end of the year as the next contender? By then, Fitch may be ready to return, they may do Penn/Shields, maybe Carlos Condit looks like a million bucks and Diego Sanchez is always hanging around.

Guess this means, unless they're going to waste a PPV main event, Bones will make his return in October or November.

If GSP doesnt finally come out guns blazing I hope Diaz whoops him. Really like GSP but not going against one of my faves.

Why would he? If any fight would be the time to avoid doing that its against an elite striker like Nick. Diaz is going to get grapple fucked for 25 minutes. Just accept thats what you're going to get now and dont be bitter when the times comes. ;)

GSP may stand with him momentarily, but Diaz is going to have to fight off his back to win.

Nick was the true WW Strikeforce champ

The fuck is Jon Fitch bitching about? He's injured last time I checked and won't be able to fight until the end of the year at the earliest.

Not to mention he's coming off a draw against Penn.
