"I'm at a point in my career where I need to be fighting main events and main event fighters," Fitch told MMAWeekly.com. "And if you don't have a belt, currently, or you haven't owned a belt in the UFC, I'm not really interested."

"I kind of had a talk with Rashad Evans during the expo up in Canada. (It) kind of opened up my eyes to it a little bit. He was telling me I (have to) stop screwing around, I have to think about my career, and I'm a main event fighter. I should only be fighting main event people."

“I want BJ or GSP,” Fitch exclaimed. “Those are the only two guys I care (to fight) or have any interest in right now. If I (have to) sit out a year and wait for them, I’ll do it. That’s what I’m waiting to fight for.”

Too bad no one but Larry wants to see Jon Fitch in the main event of any PPV, so this puts Fitch in a matchmaking bind if he stands firm on this.

Im sure Dana is thrilled with Rashad for that. Honestly I dont even think the UFC would lose sleep cutting Jon Fitch.. he has absolutely no appeal. Great fighter that noone cares to really watch.

Fitch is either hit or miss for me. Some of his fights are just downright boring (Paulo Thiago, Ben Saunders, Mike Pierce) and some are mildly entertaining (Penn, maybe the Alves fight).

The only fight for him that I want to see is with Penn.

Although I'm not ashamed to say a Fitch/Shields bout would be pretty hilarious to see just who the better wrestler is.

MMA is a SPORT. Ya'll are too focused on the entertainment aspect...its a key component, but its not ahead of sport on the ladder.

Winner gets a shot at GSP. Both guys will have rematches. Fitch going against GSP years after losing and improving on his game since. Shields coming off a fight he could have stolen v. GSP.
