    Jagr Watch 2011

After three seasons in the KHL, Jaromir Jagr could be ready to return to the National Hockey League.

According to reports on MLive.com and the Detroit Free Press on Thursday, Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda has put out feelers to five NHL teams - the Red Wings, Pittsburgh Penguins, Washington Capitals, New York Rangers and Montreal Canadiens - about the possibility of the future Hall of Famer signing on as a free agent.

Jagr has not played in the NHL since 2007-08, opting to join Avangard Omsk of the Kontinental Hockey League. He scored 19 goals and 50 points in 49 games last season.

The 39-year-old established himself as one of the NHL's premier talents during the 1990's, winning Stanley Cups with the Penguins in each of his first two seasons and capturing the Hart Trophy in 1999.

The five-time Art Ross Trophy winner has 646 goals and 1,599 points in 17 NHL seasons with Pittsburgh, Washington and the Rangers.

Figured that this would be an interesting thread for us until Jagr is officially coming back or staying in the KHL.

If he does come back, which team do you think he will sign with?

The Rangers can be ruled out for sure.

It would surprise me greatly in fact if this return came to fruition at all.

There is no way I take a chance on Jagr. First off, he is 39 years old. Second off, he is 39 years old and has spent the last three years in the KHL, which though does have some decent talent, is still not NHL talent. Jagr was a point per game player in the K, but to come back to the NHL now after being gone since 07-08, I think is going to be way to hard for him to do. You only need to look at how Ovey KOed him at the Olympics to see him fold like a deck of cards.

There have been a lot of guys who have gone to the K and come back and haven't been gone since. Zherdev comes to mind. Guy is a waste of money for the Flyers.

The way I see it, Jagr is not going to be a top 6 forward on any team. I doubt he'll pull a Mark Recchi and be a huge role player for the team. So do you put him on line 3 or 4? He isn't a shut down guy for line three, and why even sign him to line four.

Stay in the K and end your hockey life there, because there is no way anyone I can see in a sound state of mind that would bring back Jagr and think he is a missing piece.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

It would be cool to see Jagr in a Wings sweater, 10 years ago. I hope we don't have an interest in him. We are just starting to develop some young guys and I would see this as a step backward.

Per Hockey Buzz: On Jagr, it really looks like a strong bet the Canadiens will be landing Jaromir Jagr. Put it this way, there are people I trust who are convinced of this scenario, and were long before official word came out that his Russian team couldn't afford him.

Well that rules the Habs out then.

No offence, but that is kind of sad. So many better players then Jagr, yet a 39 year old who wants one more chance will make you watch more?

Its kind of sad that you dont want the man to enjoy his favourite player coming back to the league.

If Jagr is his favorite player, why not? Even so, the Habs need a big, skilled body so Jagr could fill their need. Another point I want to make- if Mike Knuble can still be a 25-30 goal scorer in the NHL in his late 30's, why can't Jagr? He's not going to get paid like a PPG player and he's not going to provide that, but he could fill needs for a couple teams.

That being said, he's not going to be a cure-all for any team. He's not THE missing piece, but he can be one of them if he comes back.

Well that is where I differ in opinion. I don't think bringing him back is worth while to anyway because he is 39, so he signs for maybe 2 seasons at most and then calls it quits. It is probably one of those "Wants to see if he can play in the NHL still" type things. That is the only reason I wonder why he thinks it would make it more interesting because I don't see him being that big of a success. If he does, he does, but a lot of these teams that are rumoured to take him just make you scratch your head as to why.

Like I've said though, at 39 years old, it just makes you wonder why he wants to come back now and now a couple years ago. He has his name on the cup already, so it isn't to do that for the first time. Just seems like an odd timing sort of thing.

Wings should convince Modano to stay and pick up Jagr, and convince Karyia to come back to the NHL and sign him,

Put them on a line together.

It appears Jaromir Jagr would like to resume his NHL career and the Pittsburgh Penguins are at the top of the list of teams for which he would play.

According to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, sources confirm that Jagr's agent Petr Svoboda told Penguins general manager Ray Shero of Jagr's intent to play last weekend.

The report indicates Jagr would also be interested in playing with the Detroit Red Wings, New York Rangers, Washington Capitals or Montreal Canadiens.

Jagr has spent the last three seasons playing in the Kontinental Hockey League in Russia, where he was playing at a point-per-game clip.

He also raised some eyebrows with his play at this year's World Hockey Championship, scoring five goals and adding four assists for nine points in nine games.

Jagr is ninth all-time in NHL scoring with 1,599 points.

Well, I don't want to see Jagr back in a Capitals uniform. He didn't perform well while here, and we don't need another forward who doesn't have much of a defensive game. If Semin is traded for some defensive help though, I could see Jagr fitting in somewhere- that doesn't mean that I want him on the team and think that McPhee will sign him.
