    2011/12 Cap rises 5 Million

Clubs and agents are being told next year's salary cap will be set at an upper limit of $64 million with a floor of $48 million.
Looking at Capgeek, with last year's rosters off the books, 20 teams are below the floor.

Florida has to add 30 Million to their roster!

Philly has 5M free with only 18 players under roster with Bryzgalov to sign. The 5M increase really makes life more flexible for them.

Bettmen noticed how bad FA day would be, so he put the cap up so more people could get in on the Richards talks.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

The cap imo has gone up way to fast and the floor is still a dumb idea.

Guys like Souray, Redden and hell even Gomez might become a wanted commodity this year for teams like Florida who will have a ton of rookies on it.

      Leafs offseason training!

If you want a laugh, go look at Florida's roster on capgeek. http://capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=16

Team has over $45M to spend and have 11 players signed, and have about 6 RFA. And none of those RFA are really going to get massive contracts.

Tampa Bay will easily have the room for Stamkos now.

Floor is required or teams like the Islanders would spend 5M on their roster and reap the benefits of revenue sharing.

It would be the problem that baseball has with teams like the Pirates who profit from being cheap losers with no fans.

Luckily for Bettman, there is no revenue to share.

NHL will run into an issue in a few years just like before.

With NBC having games now, hockey's stock is going to rise quickly. I know it is wishful thinking, but I am fairly sure hockey (ranked #4 in US big four sports) will take over baseball and could take over basketball, depending how it is marketed.

The best thing for the NHL this year with this deal with NBC...NFL lockout for the year. Look what happened to poker with no hockey on TV.

As in position. I think most would rank them

                        1) NFL
                        2) NBA
                        3) MLB
                        4) NHL

Like I said, wishful thinking and NFL lockout could make it

                        1) NFL
                        2) NBA/NHL
                        4) MLB.

Of course I am not sure the ratings Baseball gets.

MLB does like 7 Billion in revenue. NHL is below 3 I'd bet.

I reckon in 10 years time it will be

                            1. NHL
                            2. Haxball

NBA may also lock out.....it will be interesting to see how that plays out, in addition to the NFL lockout.
