One word I would use to describe Burns: unflinching.

At the end of the day, trading a very late 1st for what's likely to be an early 2nd next year isn't too much of a difference.

Coyle was our 1st last year, I don't really know much about him.

We obviously have far more top 6 forwards than we need, so I'm not surprised to see him moved.

Burns is only 26 and is making just a bit more salary than Seto was signed to, so for this year salary is a wash. Hopefully they sign him for the standard Doug Wilson 4 year deal.

Depending on how Coyle progresses determines who wins here, but right now I'm alright with it.

There is only one condition that makes this a bad deal for the Sharks and that's if Burns doesn't re-sign.

Yep, pretty much. They had Seto at a very good price with that signing so it would be a big loss if they don't keep him.

                  I'd wager he's locked up on a 4 year deal around 4-4.5M.

Also for the benefit of everyone I see a clear pattern emerging with Sharks young forwards. If you look at the diagram below you will see some interesting and definitive results.

Cheechoo one good season, new team bust. ---> Setoguchi one good season, new team about to become a bust. ---> Couture one good season, will one day become a bust.

I liked Seto but Burns will make the Sharks a much better team.

The Sharks had seven guys who scored 20+ goals last season, but it doesn't matter if you're giving up 3-4 a game in the playoffs.

Not only that, but Burns had 5 more points than Setoguchi last season. There were 2 DMen in all of the NHL that scored as many goals as Burns did, there were 106 forwards that scored as many goals as Seto did.

Obviously, Sharks will need to resign Burns.
