2006 = 5,270,000 total. 527,000 = average

2007 = 4,935,000 total. 449,000 = Average

2008 = 6,325,000 total. 527,000 = Average

2009 = 8,020,000 total. 617,000 = Average

2010 = 9,080,000 Total. 605,000 = Average

2011** 3,480,000 (total. 435,000 = Average.

The average PPV sale has gone down 200k this year,
from 2010 and 2009.

Also it looks like total sales will be down as well,
2010 saw 15 PPV's for 9 million sales.
2011 already has half that (8) with 1/3rd in total sales.

Yeah this is no secret, live gate numbers are down, too.

The boom is over, happened a year later than I predicted, but here we are. Overexposure is the issue, but what's done is done.

The new business model is more fights, quantity/volume to make up for the decreased buys. UFC PPV is no longer a novelty, especially with the amount of free stuff they give away. Only a few guys can pull big numbers, and they have no new stars on the horizon because the Cain's and JDS's and Fitch's and Cruz's are bland/uncharasmatic. They are reyling on Bones Jones to capture the public, so far he hasn't drawn well at all.

I've been preaching this for two/three years. When Lesnar/GSP/Silva are gone, they have no one to replace them.

too many fights for me the casual fan. also really hard to keep up with so many guys with so little national attention besides a few big guys.

I'm a hardcore fan, and I only buy two or three shows per year now. There is so much free MMA and free UFC that I get my fix, I don't need to pay for it every month. There is live MMA on TV nearly every weekend of the year. You don't need to pay to follow the sport.

Pretty simple, despite Dana White blabbing about every card being the best card ever, you rarely get your money's worth. I think people have stopped giving the UFC the benefit of the doubt and are no longer willing to risk their money and cross their fingers for an exciting event, when they've been burned so many times.

I say it all the time, but look through their PPV history.

More often than not the fight people pay for, the main event, doesn't turn out to be worth a dime. Jon Jones vs Shogun was suppose to be great, that sucked. Great performance, but people want to see a fight. You can go to a bar to see a one sided beat down. Shields vs GSP received a ton of hype, that sucked. The list goes on, eventually people catch on and allow their money to demand a better product.

That & they're doing way more events, so of course the averages are down. When you have multiple PPVs a month, people are going to be more selective. Their overall numbers will be up, and they'll profit more than they ever have.

There's no spinning these as great. There really are no superstar draws besides Brock, GSP and Silva like w2b mentioned.

Rampage by himself is good for at least 300k (as he did with Jardine, too). I was surprised Shogun/Bones couldn't reach 500k. JDS/Carwin barely doing 300k is a bad sign. Cruz/Faber/TIto/Wanderlei doing 350k is not a good sign either.

They have one big buyrate not the schedule with GSP/Diaz which should be good for at least 700k. If Diaz has his working shoes on, perhaps they could boost it another 100k or two. Bones/Rampage will be interesting because the two characters together should be good for well over 500k but can Jones breakthrough as a draw? Silva/Okami with Shogun/Forrest should be interesting to see how well And1 can still draw on his own without any big build. Cain/JDS with no real heat between them and Cain returning after a long lay off, I'd be surprised if that can do close to 500,000.

136 (Edgar/Maynard 3 I guess, Stann/Sonnen) is not expected to do good. 133 with Evans/Davis is probably lucky if it can do over 350,000.

The one wildcard is the December card because what can they pull for that one? No Cain, no Bones/Rampage, no Silva, no GSP, no Brock, no other title on the line...
