IMO, Sin Cara's biggest issue is not knowing the language. Kids and some adults can relate to Rey because he can fucking speak to them. You have to know fucking English to make it in the WWE, unless you're Goldberg and get by with a look and two words.

      Yep.

I'm curious to know what their plan was for him since he doesn't know the language. Perhaps he was taking classes or whatever but it takes longer than a few months to become comfortable speaking on national TV.

Sin Cara could be fine working his matches and getting pops for doing his flips....but at some point he was going to need to talk.

I'm not sure why he didn't know this himself. If you want to make it big in the WWE you have to know English. He doesn't have to be Arn Anderson on the mic, but he has to communicate with the audience.
I suspect it's a big reason why the WWE has given up on him so quickly (that, and the fact that 95% of their roster has no clue how to work with him).

I haven't seen much of his SD run the past month, has it been that bad?

I know Chavo fucked up before he was let go, but that was on Chavo.

I get what you are saying, but please don't disrespect Mysterio by saying this guy is in the same galaxy as him from 15 years ago.

Mysterio was a dynamic, unique, ultra charasmatic performer who was able to get over instantly in front of any crowd in the world.

Mistico is a guy they brought in based on being a mega draw in 2006 in a completely different culture. He was right place, right time in 2006. He appealed to Mexican children. That appeal was incredible, but it was short lived and segmented. He doesnt have a tenth of the Rey Mysterio Jr 1994-1996 charisma.

            Total bullshit.

I can name dozens of guys who have gotten over HUGE in the WWE without ever saying a word.

Rey Mysterio Jr got over everywhere without cutting a single promo.

These are all excuses. Sin Cara flopped because they overrated and misjudged Mistico's charisma. Plain & simple. You can pluck 20 different guys out of Mexico right now and stick them in the same outfit and nobody would know the difference. Try that shit with Rey 15 years ago. That;s the difference.

Obviously, Mysterio was a revolutionary guy when he made his name in the 90s.

That's one of the reasons why he was able to blow up like he did. Because the ECW crowd (to a degree) and the generic ass WCW crowd never saw anything like it. Mysterio didn't get over in 2002 WWE because he was strictly a high flyer but because of the name and he did enough flying shit to become the superover babyface. Plus, he could talk for himself which definitely helps in WWF.

Comparing him to Mistico strictly as the one luchador on the WWE roster.

But in WWE, who gets over huge without saying a word and without being able to use facial expressions?

You asked me that once and I posted pictures of like 20 guys.

Besides, Sin Cara not talking actually helped him IMO. His character was supposed to be mysterious. It would totally kill his aura to have him speak in some squeeky voice in broken english. Better off staying silent, but again, he isnt charasmatic enough to pull it off.

I just thought of Kane but it helps to be 7' and damn near 300 pounds with the storyline they had for him. Was fucking gold.

That's actually just a repost of a post I made in response to Empire a few months back in a different Sin Cara thread.

The idea that you need to speak in order to get over in wrestling is completely false.

The only one who fits Sin Cara's thing is Muta and Kane because they each had their faces covered (albeit Muta's was make-up) and never spoke.

That said, Sin Cara was also HHH's pet project so he had that support going for him.

Mil Mascaras was a superstar and top draw in every territory he ever worked in for like 30 years. Never said a word.

Rey Mysterio got over everywhere before he ever spoke.

These are picture perfect comparisons for Sin Cara.

Those guys had real charisma and a superstar aura. Sin Cara was a great draw for one year in one place. They over estimated the guy.
