DREAM Spin-Off Event! The Trump Card Of K-1 | Nightmare Of Battle

Some new information/rumors on both DREAM and K-1 (who might be run by separate companies/people from now on).

The DREAM spin-off event (Japan Cup Bantamweight GP) will probably take place at JCB Hall in the middle of April and they will hold another event in the summer. FEG, who are one of the two parent companies of DREAM, will not be part of any of this (they have problems of their own). So it is a “former PRIDE staff portion of DREAM (Real Entertainment) and possible other people”-only event.

As far as K-1 goes, I’ve seen a couple of articles saying that the trump card of the rebuilding/reconstruction (as far as contract renewal with broadcaster goes) of K-1 is Masato (doesn’t say if it’s as a fighter, public figure, or whatever). It also says that profit is possible just by changing the administration/management. So there will probably be change in the people behind and around K-1 (possibly some really interesting ones, that even fans can recognize).

Can't remember if anyone else brought this up but it's funny that with PRIDE and Strikeforce, the final shows before the promotions were sold to Zuffa concluded with Dan Henderson knock out wins to win championships.

This is a 180 from the post-Silva vs. Vitor Belfort show where he flat-out said afterwards that if St. Pierre beat Jake Shields then it was going to be GSP vs. Silva at 185. My guess is that GSP doesn't want to make the move, as he's really been down on the idea in interviews of late.

The feud between Meisha Tate and Tara Larosa has picked up steam lately. They've talked shit via twitter and even went at it over a radio show. Tara was talking a bit reckless with labeling her as a PED user and she didn't present herself well.

At the end of the day, though, Larosa doesn't really want to get it in with Tate. Tate would give her the business. And even if she was down, it's crazy that Larosa wouldn't want to fight her on a national stage. Tate vs. Larosa is a pretty big WMMA fight.

A DEEP 53 IMPACT press conference will be held on the 24th and another DEEP return of a fighter will be announced.

That fighter is probably Satoru Kitaoka so the DEEP 53 IMPACT card will feature Akira Shoji vs. Kazuo Misaki, Eiji Mitsuoka, and Satoru Kitaoka. Quite the event is shaping up for April 22nd. April itself is shaping up to be an awesome kakutogi month.

The returns of Mitsuoka and Kitaoka is pretty big deal. April is shaping up to be a big month for Japan's combat scene.

Right now I'm lurking the MMA section and reading all I can from you guys, but what else should I know or do to get fully immersed in the sport. What shows/channels do I watch? Where can I go online to catch fights. What websites keep me up with things? Etc. Etc.

On TV, the networks that replay old MMA shows include Spike and Showtime at no real set timeslot.

TV schedule this week in terms of new stuff includes:

Tuesday night on Spike, the latest season of the UFC's Ultimate Fighter reality series (heavyweights Brock Lesnar and Junior dos Santos are coaches)......
Friday night on Showtime is Strikeforce Challengers, Live MMA......
Saturday night on MTV 2 is Bellator 39, Live MMA

Your best bet to catch fights online would be YouTube (duh lol), Daily Motion...pretty much use google's video search to find clips


Best news sites include: MMAJunkie.com, MMAFighting.com, MMAWeekly.com while Bloodyelbow.com is probably the best blog-type site
