Silva doesnt want any of this

If anybody's earned a shot at the middleweight strap, it's Maia

Or maybe Okami? If I was Okami, pretty soon I'd head back to Japan for some fat paydays and way easier fights

It was on HD Net early this evening. I caught part of it and forgot to PVR the rest. Manhoef got straight up dropped. He wasn't outright unconscious but its kickboxing not MMA. He looked like he had the other guy in trouble and waded in, then got nailed on the button.

Looks like Overeem got robbed, but K1 scores differently, Overeem is a beast

K-1 has weird scoring. And at the GP last year they switched to a system where they announce the judges scores at the end of the round, which I find doubly weird

EDIT - after watching the fight, I scored it

10-9 Bonjansky. I think Overeem's two illegal kicks might have cost him the round (you can't catch the leg and kick out hte other leg) They scored it a draw which I could also agree with
10-9 Overeem
10-8 Bonjasky - the knockdown earns him a point and the fight, whcih is really shitty for Overeem, because he didn't to much otherwise the last two rounds

Overeem looks almost too big to punch effectively

So my friend that had a fight in Quebec yesterday lost. Guillotine choke. Sounds like he did well early, then probably got caught. Sucks, as a win would have given him a title shot. Not that W1 is exactly a monster name promotion, but its essentially the replacement for Montreal's TKO promotion. Carlos Newton was on the same card. If my buddy won last night and his next fight, he would have had a shot to make the WEC by the end of the year. Still possible, just gonna take longer.

Edit - just noticed the event made the lead article on Sherdog. My buddy is Sean Quinn.

GATINEAU, Quebec -- Fighting in his home country for the first time in more than 13 years, Carlos Newton made a triumphant return

Former UFC welterweight champion Carlos Newton knocked out Nabil Khatib at Warrior-1 MMA’s “Inception.” Al Quintero was cageside to photograph the action for Sherdog.com

Here's the Sherdog photos from the fight my friend had.

One of the cooler stories he had was that he ended up cutting weight with Carlos Newton. Newton fights at 170 and was walking around at 220 before he started cutting in the lead-up to the fight.

Not sure how far out that was. My guess would be when his training camp started proper, which would be somewhere between 3-5 weeks before the fight.

My friend started his weight cut about 2 weeks prior to the fight. He was at his heaviest ever - 162 pounds - and made 135 fairly easily.

You two must be quite a pair when out on the town in Regina. I know girls who weigh 150 and they probably aren't 90% muscle like I'm sure your friend is

Yeah, we're both pretty stocky. He's only about 5'6" and solid. I'm about 5'11" but somewhere over 300, stocky as hell. What makes it even more interesting is that his fiancee is an Olympic caliber wrestler - so she only weights about 110 pounds but she is as stocky and ripped as Quinn is.

Bader's right hand of doom should come into play.
