Too many people saw him when he was washed up. Look at Bas Rutten. He's a legend among people who never even saw him fight, because he quit before he became a parody of himself, and he carved out a niche as a wacky commentator. He kept his aura. Shamrock was bad with money, so he has to keep taking fights. It's like when a football or baseball player plays too long, and people forget how good they used to be.

New fans think Sakuraba is just some old bum, times change and it's up to these guys to realize it's not worth taking a beating.

For the ones who need money, there's got to be other ways than stepping back in the cage/ring.

                Easy for you to say.

Look at somebody like Jens Pulver, rough childhood, all he knows is fighting. What do you want him to do? He has to eat.
