Starrcade 97 is not a must watch show. However, it is definitely memorable. Even FT, a casual fan, instantly recalled the show. You can not tell the story of the history of wrestling without it, that we can all agree. Does it belong? I don't know. I was leaning yes, now I'm back in the middle. Its historical though, no question.

Does it belong on this list as a must watch? Hell fucking no. Does it deserve some sort of odd "footnote" or mention because of the Hogan-Sting matchup/aftermath occuring, despite it's shittiness? Yes.
You can't tell the story of Wrestling without WCW, and you can't tell the complete story of WCW without mentioning this one match at Starrcade '97. But outside of showing a clip of the not fast-"fast count" ending and how it related to the clusterfuck WCW would become in a few years there's nothing really worth watching at the event.Comment

Yeah it's odd. The ONLY thing memorable about it is that Sting and Hogan had a match. The match itself sucked, even before the lame ass ending.

I'm all for not putting it on this list, essentially based on FT's point...any opposition?Comment

Very strong card top to bottom.
Good Jericho/Angle match
Good Hardyz/E+C match
Good Radicalz/2Cool+Rikishi match
Big time match between HHH/Foley in Hell in a Cell.
IMO, very very good card.
-Backlash-
Another very strong card top to bottom.
Very good lightweight title match.
Angle v. Showster
Very good Jericho/Benoit match.
Very good HHH/Rock match.
Two events from a really hot period where the WWE was putting out a lot of gold. These two events were very good, IMO.
However, not exactly significant or anything...but very good cards, IMO.Comment

I think the shows, as wrestling pay per views, are about as good as you'll get from the E top to bottom outside of X7, even though there may not be that one historical moment.Comment

Still disagree larry.
The HIAC at No Way Out was one of the less memorable IMO, especially since in hindsight Foley only sold the retirement stipulation for a few weeks before returning. Everything else was just there. It wasn't better than Rumble and it mesh's in with the rest of the B PPVs from that period. Nothing stands out as something I'd show to a non-fan.
I guess you could put Backlash in since it had the great main event leading to Austin's return. Huge pop for him. Still don't remember anything else from the show off the top of my head.

If we're including shows in general….some ideas for RAW episodes
5/21/01 - the famous Austin/HHH vs. Jericho/Benoit tag title match with the epic match in front of the hot crowd.
7/9/01 - this is the one where ECW was revived by Heyman….one of the best segments in RAW history…only to join the Alliance under Steph in the conclusion.
9/22/97 - Austin Stuns McMahon for the first time and Cactus Jack returns to fight HHH in a street fight plus some early DX stuff
2/7/00 - the famous 10-man tag featuring Rock, Cactus, Too Cool & Rikishi vs. HHH, X-Pac, Benoit, Malenko and Saturn. One of the best matches in RAW history and featured Kane's return with a white hot crowd.
