Overeem turns heel, leaves Golden Glory

I would like to make a statement regarding the recent news of the separation from my long-time management Golden Glory. As with any relationship, there are good times and bad times - you have your common ground and your differences. As with any relationship, you have trust. When differences lead to a breach of trust, there's no turning back and no way to continue a positive, working relationship. I don't air my dirty laundry. I would appreciate the respect regarding my privacy to not disclose any further details on this matter.

Again, I would like to thank team Golden Glory for all the years we worked together and wish them success for the future.
    Bas Boon response:

Golden Glory executive Bas Boon has commented on Alistair Overeem’s surprise announcement that he is leaving the Dutch team as of today.

“We regret that 12 years of working together and friendship has come to an end. I can not really comment on any details as I do not have them myself yet [and] we don't air our dirty laundry [in public,]” he told Fighters Only today.

Overeem issued a short statement on Twitter earlier today in which he said he was ending his relationship with Golden Glory. He did not detail his reasons but did say that there had been a “breach of trust” which could not be overcome.

“I would like to make a statement regarding the recent news of the separation from my long-time management Golden Glory. As with any relationship, there are good times and bad times - you have your common ground and your differences. As with any relationship, you have trust.

“When differences lead to a breach of trust, there's no turning back and no way to continue a positive, working relationship. I don't air my dirty laundry. I would appreciate the respect regarding my privacy to not disclose any further details on this matter.

“Again, I would like to thank team Golden Glory for all the years we worked together and wish them success for the future.”

While Overeem and Boon were both polite and respectful in their public statements, already a bone of contention is rearing its head. Overeem’s statement said he was splitting with his “long-time management Golden Glory” but Boon seems to see it as Overeem no longer training at the Golden Glory facility only.

He told Fighters Only, “There is a management contract in place and as long as this is honored we are fine with the decision from Alistair and wish Alistair much success in his further career.”

More news as we get it.
This is a situation that might get ugly.

He also has had a cameo in a suspect music video.

This whole Overeem situation reminds me of the Corporate Rocky angle:
