I didn't know about that so let me recant. But I still contend that 8 game suspensions for speaking is dumb. Even more unjustified given the context; it looks like the context of John Mackie's situation was equally ignored.

Yeah eight game is way to much. This is just the FA making a show out of it. I could understand 2-4 games but not 8. He was trying to get in Evra's head and stepped over the line a bit.

I don't think 8 games is that excessive. A straight red card gets you a 3 match ban. To me, giving a 3-4 match suspension for this would be sending the wrong message. Racism is a social issue and there is a significant effort being made to remove it from the game. Giving a suspension that is about equal to what a straight red card earns doesn't really send the message that what Suarez did was simply unacceptable. Especially as he admitted to the charge and provided a pretty weak excuse. I still haven't read if he at least seemed contrite for it, but that "reason" doesn't make it seem that likely. I would say 6-8 matches is appropriate, given the context of what they are trying to do with racism. It sends the proper message - if you racially abuse someone, you will pay for it.

RvP to Citeh might happen eventually but it won't happen in this window. They would probably have to pay more than what they did for Aguero. He's already 28 years old. Besides which, I really doubt he recreates his goal-scoring form for another side - so much about his run with Arsenal has been because he's been the key player and so much feeds through him. He would be just another player for City... another really good, really really overpaid player.
