Deal for "Well Jel"(Jelavic) has been agreed, medical to take place tomorrow morning and WILL be unveiled at Goodison tomorrow night provided medical goes ok.
Looks like Doyle and Vossen are the back up plans.
Everton have lined up reserve deals for Kevin Doyle and Jelle Vossen, just in case the attempt to sign Nikica Jelavic from Rangers falls through.
With the transfer window slamming shut tomorrow night, Rangers are stubbornly sticking to a high valuation of their Croatian striker, despite their monetary problems.
If the Jelavic deal continues to stall, Everton are prepared to re-ignite interest in Wolves out of favour Irish striker Kevin Doyle, depending if the valuation is realistic.
Failing that, another back up plan has been hatched, with Genk´s Belgian hitman Jelle Vossen ready to be approached. The 22-year-old is a highly rated striker who has attracted interest from Aston Villa in recent times, and rumours are abound that he is unsettled at his current club and wants to try his hand in a higher standard of competition.
It is believed Everton are unwilling to break a self-enforced £5m transfer limit for a striker this window. There is a determination to secure a front man this January.
Meanwhile, Greek centre-half Kostas Monalos remains a valid target for Everton, with a deal in the region of £600,000 awaiting completion before the window shuts. The highly rated AEK Athens man has been followed closely by the Blues in recent months.
