First episode opened with RJ Brewer standing at a border fence "protecting" the border with binoculars. Meanwhile, while he is ranting, various luchadors and minis are hoping over the fence behind him. I FUCKING DIED. Hilarious.
Tonight, the top four contenders will compete in a four way elimination match to determine the first WORLD CHAMPION. Marco Corleone (Mark Jindrak) vs. RJ Brewer vs. Lizmark Jr vs Charlie Malice (Charlie Manson from AAA).
-Oriental & Tinieblas Jr vs. RELLIK (that's killer spelled backwards) & Sydistico: Four mid carders from Season 1 open the show. According to Kelly, the WORLD TAG TEAM TITLES will be determined in three weeks, so this is a key match. I love details like that to add to the importance of the matches, something WWE doesn't seem to understand.
During the break, we get a commercial for the Lucha Libre USA action figures, including the hexagon ring. Can't imagine this is a big seller.
Back from the break, and the rudos are putting the heat on the technicos. Oriental takes over, but a MYSTERY MAN wearing a mask and dressed in all black shows up and helps the rudos get the win. The MYSTERY MAN scurries off like Repo Man. I enjoyed this.
Now we get two sit down interviews with Lizmark Jr. & Marco Corleone. They talk about why they don't like each other and why they want to be WORLD CHAMPION. Good stuff.
Comedy with Mini Park, setting up Mini Park vs. his ex-wife, Rosetta, in a MINI LUMBER JACK STRAP MATCH.
-Mini Park vs. Rosetta Park (lumberjack strap match): If you couldnt figure it out, Mini Park is a mini La Parka. He is a really big mini, and Rosetta is a regular sized woman, so they are the same size. Mini Park is actually taller than the ref. Storyline here is Rosetta is divorcing him and wants child support for their SEVEN children. Mini Park basically claims she is a whore and none of this kids are his.
The mini lumberjacks are wearing flannel shirts. Nice touch. Commentators claim there is a facebook debate going on right now among the fans about this situation. Somehow I doubt that. Rosetta is wearing the La Parka bones style bodysuit. Big spot is Mini Park flying over the top and taking out everyone. Mini Park picks up the win.
This time, Charlie Malice and RJ Brewer talk about the title match. This must have been taped a looooong time ago, because Charlie Manson has been in jail for months for beating up cops in a drunken rage. RJ Brewer cuts another fantastic promo and promises to eliminate "masks, backflips, and costumes" when he becomes champ, and will ban lucha libre in his effort to clean up America from mexicans. This stuff is GOLD.
-Corleone vs Malice vs Brewer vs Lizmark Jr. (World Title four-way): Sydistico is at ringside interfering on behalf of Lizmark Jr. They are doing the standard WWE 'two guys get thrown to the outside while the other two work for a few minutes' pattern. Brewer has "SB 1070" on his tights, which is a reference to the Arizona anti-immigration proposal. LOL. Pretty good match. Technico Super Nova runs down to take out Sydistico. COMMERCIAL. Lizmark is spending most of the match on the outside, picking his spots when guys are down. Lizmark is a rudo, but everyone hates Brewer.
In a great swerve, with Brewer on the verge of elimination via a reverse DDT from Malice, Super Nova hops in the ring, attacks Malice, and gives him a CANDIAN DESTROYER. He umasks, and it's none other than PETEY WILLIAMS. Brewer pins Malice. We are down to three.
Corleone rolls up Brewer and it comes down to Corleone & Lizmark. Sydistico distracts the ref, and RELLIK (that's killer spelled backwards) throws powder in the eyes of Corleone, allowing Lizmark to pick up the win and the title.
This show isn't half bad. The booking is simple, but makes sense, which is a rarity these days. It;s not appointment viewing by any means, but it's worthy of being DVR'd.
