Agree there. 10-8 should not be an exception. It should be more prevalent.

I'd go so far to say that in a round, when a fighter does not land any offensive blow, a takedown, etc. but take even some damage...give them an 8. They did nothing to deserve the 9.

Look at the Fight Metric #s, they had it close but Guida. Pettis did not get screwed.
use your eyes, not fightmetric stats, those things are not accurate

Pettis did more, did more than Guida who wanted the fight on the ground, Guida laid on top of him

I know what you're talking about and it definitely leads to some atrocious fights. But with so many amazing wrestlers, unless the judges have some epiphany, lay and pray is an effective tactic to winning.

I agree, inactivity should be penalized. Get that yellow card back, fighters would not do nothing on the ground if they risked losing 10Gs or however much.
Forget pro wrestling, every sport has to be self aware enough to understand that they are entertainment entities.

To the bold, if you look at almost any major rule change in any sport, 90% of them are rooted in eliminating boring, yet strategically effective tactics.

          huh?

I want to be entertained, I also want it to be a fight and still about fighting, not points and not guys getting rewarded for not fighting which the current rules and judging make happen

Mousasi vs Jardine, another perfect example

Jardine did zero with all his TD's, Mousasi did all the damage, than Jardine swayed the ref into a point deduction and no 10-8 round rewarded, a dominant damage perfomance by Mousasi turns into a draw

                Shit is getting depressing.

MMA is literally turning into pro wrestling.

I'm talking more sport wrestling than pro wrestling. It's already becoming a race who can get the takedown first. You've got non-wrestlers like Florian and even Dan fucking Hardy trying to pull the shame shit. I want to see talented fighters fighting, not Real ProWrestling 2.0.

                        Jose Aldo:

                        8 WEC fights, 1 decision.

                        2 UFC fights, 2 decisions.

He was sick against Hominick, but he did punch him so hard he created that huge goiter on his head. If it opened up, the fight would've stopped.

Not being able to finish Florian was surprising.

Just better competition overall now. Don't think for a second he'll be able to finish Mendes (who should turn the fight into a wrestling match). Faber wasn't able to get the fight to the ground and as a result, his thigh looked like someone dropped a bucket of black/purple paint on it.

Florian can take a beating. It's not really surprising that Aldo didn't finish him.

He's only been finished twice in 21 fights and BJ was only able to finish him by RNC.

BJ only being able to sub him? That is pretty good against a guy like Florian. You make it sound easy. lol
