    The Kyle Turris stand-off

Well there has been news put out about Turris today, that he still will not sign with the Coyotes, and wants to be traded, and that many other teams are interested and have offered good 'assets' for him. Turris, 22, is still a RFA and if he does not sign by Dec 1st, he cannot play this season.

This was never about money or length, but basically about Turris not wanting to play for Phoenix. Phoenix said, "The CBA gives us certain rights to Turris and we are exercising our rights." And I for one hope to god they actually follow through with this and for once, someone sets an example. They said later on in the article

"We will not trade his rights under any circumstances and are prepared to live with the consequences if he decides to sit out this, and future, seasons."

Now how many times have we heard that from sports team in every sport. Sooner or later they get tired of waiting and want something useful and trade away the player. (see carson palmer for latest example)

I really think the Coyotes have to follow through with this because it could easily turn ugly for a lot of teams. Suppose Taylor Hall is tired of losing in Edmonton after next year, and wants to go to a better team. Hall is obviously better then Turris, but if he can make this kind of demand, what is stopping any RFA from doing it.

Phoenix should let him rot at home. In 65 games last year he had 11 goals and 14 assists. Nothing amazing by any standards, so really it isn't like he is the go to guy on the team. In 131 games he has 19 goals and 27 assists. Not the kid who should be making demands on where to play. Stamkos won the Rocket in his second year. What has Turris done?

I'm also surprised no one has offer sheeted him either. That would be his worst nightmare, because by doing that, Phoenix could accept and basically Turris has to play for them that year, or we get the Nabokov story all over again, where he is bound to that contract till he plays it out.
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

    "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.

Due to the recent history of deals between NYR and PHX I wouldn't be overly surprised if he wound up in New York, but Turris has thus far done nothing to merit any high interest.
