Their biggest issue with that, is they use the same guys every.single.time. Most of the guys already work in-house for them. They also have a few guys they go-to all of the time. Yeah, they are safe and always show up...but damn, they show up 5 times a year. When they show up, they aren't going to get a cheap pop.

Right, does anyone really give a shit to see Ron Simmons and IRS again? Or Arn, or Slaughter?
Even someone like Austin would've at least got the crowd going yesterday. He hasn't been away forever but definitely long enough for him to be a surprise.Comment

Bring out some guys that you don't see too damn often.
No offense to Bret Hart...but I don't really care to see him in 2013. He was never good enough on the stick for me to care what he has to say.Comment

You're all right and the guys at squared circle are delusional smarks. Yeah sure Jake the Snake was a big name to bring in but most of the people who were in attendance were somewhere between 16-25 and Jake hasn't been relevant since most of that crowd was 10 years old.
Austin would have probably blown the fucking roof off that place. But like Larry and Fed said, i've seen the NAO a million times this year so why should i really care that much. On the other hand putting old school RAW in Baltimore as opposed to NYC or even Philly was not a smart move. I can't remember the last time something relevant in the wrestling world happened in Baltimore.

The fact that Ziggler is on Superstars is troubling itself. Now he's got a concussion working it and that's three in a calendar year? Not good news at all.Comment

As for why they did it in Baltimore, Vince was trying to compete with the national championship game for college football. It originally wasn't advertised as old school RAW, and only became that in the past week and a half. So of course, the same guys show up because they aren't planning these events six months or a year out, so the only ones who are available are the ones who work for them.
As for Baltimore, it was a lot of kids though, not a great wrestling crowd. I don't know what anyone expects when half of your target group is out the door with an hour left in the show, and that target group is not going to move the crowd ambience.Comment

I popped for Jake. I thought that was fun, and Ambrose was having the time of his life.
Fuck Too Cool & Rikishi though. Go away heat then, go away heat now. God, I hate that act.Comment

I never got into Too Cool. One of those acts I have no idea how they caught on with anyone.
I mean, I can understand Santino or some other comedy acts...could never understand Too Cool's appeal. They were the dirt worst when I watched during the Attitude Era and I can't pop for them now.Comment

That was a great moment. Jake hasn't been on WWE TV since that horrid mid-90's run IIRC. I honestly never expected him back, save for maybe a HOF tinduction. To see him to end a Raw, even if it was a themed Raw, in there with a main eventer like Punk and to have the spotlight to himself. It was really cool, both from a nostalgic standpoint and also from the perspective that the guy should have been found dead in a hotel room years ago. He worked hard and got back in the ring the right way. Also, his music is badass.Comment

Jake had been working toward that moment for over a year now...to get sober and in some shape that the WWE would take a chance on him for a quick Rumble moment (maybe he still gets it) or something on TV with the WWE. Good to see they rewarded him for cleaning up his act, I though.Comment

It's a fucking ghost.
Also, what a match. Crowd gave no fucks at the start, and were on fire by the end. Bobby Heenan is the best thing ever. Today, he'd get no chance.
This reminds me, i've been meaning to do a big rewatch of WWF tag wrestling from about '85-'90. Love all of that stuff, especially those long house show matches from MSG, Boston Gardens, Maple Leaf Gardens, Cap Center, etc. Problem is all of this stuff is going to dry up as they yank it off YouTube for the network.Comment
