the wrestlemania press conference was awful today. boring, no crowd reactions and just all around awkward. batista was gold though.

Batista makes a joke about how quiet it is. He finally gets the crowd to make a little bit of noise. He says this is awkward and he really doesn't want to be here. He points out the script they gave him and says it's stuff he never would say and whoever wrote it shouldn't have a job. He says they should be fired, unless it was Stephanie who wrote it. He says Bryan looked funny in his suit and picks on him for chanting "yes!" with nobody doing it along with him. Batista points out the awkward silence. Batista says he had time in between movies and decided to come back and be champion. Batista mocks fans that boo him and says he will wear skinny jeans every week to piss them off. This gets a laugh from the crowd. Batista says at the end of the day he's a pro wrestler and that's what he loves. He says being a part of WrestleMania XXX in the main event is special to him. Batista says to take a good look at him because it's the last time we'll see him not as champion. He leaves and actually got a better rise from the crowd than anyone so far.

Batista just being a dick, not for laughs or whatever, just him coming out and being his smug, dickish self is good for plenty of laughs, intentional or otherwise.

Didn't take it as him being a dick. That's Dave being Dave, shy and uncomfortable in that type of setting.

Throw in the lack of any reaction from the few fans who were there and he decided to speak off the cuff.

And he still didn't much of a reaction. Batista should've been brought back as the monster heel, but they botched that by originally having him be a face and then he was viewed by fans as the "anti-Danielson" since the Rumble so now they boo Batista. Nothing is really saving Batista now, unless they get him off-screen for a bit and then bring him back as the monster heel......who also doesn't wear skinny jeans and a nose ring.

Regarding A.J. Styles price on indies, while things vary based on promotion, how many dates booked, if it’s someone he knows well, etc. but his asking price in the U.S. and Canada is $3,000 per shot. The $2,500 figure we had last week was for someone he knows well. The price for a show outside the U.S. and Canada is $5,000. I believe in Japan, it would be a contract situation, but he’s booked solid every Saturday and a lot of Fridays, and as noted, he gets to keep his merchandise money and doesn’t have the road expenses working indies since when you work for indies, the rule of thumb is that you are picked up and a hotel room comes with the package so no rental car and hotel room. The point remains, at this stage of the game, when he’s fresh off television and his shows are generally drawing well, it looks to me like he’ll do considerably better on the indie scene than he would have had he stayed with TNA this year. Usually in time, for guys coming out of a major promotion, the asking price drops over time, but name wrestlers can make a solid living on the indie scene. One of the issues with WWE guys as opposed to TNA guys, is when you’re used to 3,000 to 15,000 fans every night, the indie scene can be a come-down, but Styles is working before generally as big or bigger crowds on indies than he did with TNA.
Styles is killing it. Toss in his New Japan deal (he likely debuts Sunday at Invasion Attack as a surprise since he's not booked anywhere in New Orleans which obviously makes no sense), and TNA letting him go was the best thing that could have happened to him.

So many LOL's in this story, and all are directed at TNA.

Did I read it right where two indie promotions outdrew TNA's live event in Lincoln NE? Attendance for the TNA show was only 400 as well

Not head to head. The report was that the two local indies usually do better than 400.
