My point, is why were people like Danielson, Cesaro, Hero, Aries, Low Ki etc toiling away in the indies as late as 2009, 2010 in some cases when people knew some of these guys were more than ready in 2006?

The WWE jumped on these guys too late because they were focused with finding non wrestlers with no passion and teaching them how to wrestle, instead of finding wrestlers who knew how to wrestle, had a passion for wrestling, and understood wrestling.

And TNA is even more to blame, because aside from Joe they had a chance to scoop up every single one of these guys and failed. Fuck, they had Punk & Aries years ago and let them go! TNA could have signed all of these dudes in 2006, mixed in a few vets to put them over, and who knows what could have happened. Heyman may have taken that job, as opposed to turning it down in 2009 or whatever when the ship had sailed.

The E definitely loved to find guys that don't love the business, but love the idea of money and then act surprised when they are future endeavored. There is a reason why Punk, Cesaro, Danielson, et al come in, work their asses off to get over, do whatever to get over and get over...and then outwork 97% of the roster between shows, helping out the young talent, doing promotional work, etc.

Oh, and for a product that is dying for more faces...they continue to shit on Zack Ryder. He could be one of their top mid-card faces...and he's over already...but nope.

It was able to collect all of this talent and fester in a few Indies because it was essentially left untouched.

TNA, moreover the WWE should truly be at fault for these guys festering.

As for Ryder...I'm convinced if they gave him the ball, he'd run with it...he'll never be a main eventer, but a mid-card guy that is always over...for sure. He loves the business too much not to, but you can see the guy getting tired of not being used, too. Its been like two years since he started his show and he's gone NO WHERE.

Domino did that video thing and tried to create his own gimmick, and it basically got him heat and he's never been seen again. Dibiase tried it, and he's never used and on the verge of being cut.

The WWE's whole face/heel system is flawed considering how family-oriented the show is meant to be. The main reason the WWE lacks faces is because nearly all of the so-called faces often do a lot of heelish/dickhead things for the sake of giving them edge, but instead it makes them look like assholes. From a neutral standpoint, guys like Cena and Sheamus are bullies. They are always interrupting people's promos and often to prone to wanting to fight first. The only straight babyface that's relevant is Kofi Kingston and even then he has his moments.

Ryder could be your wholesome white meat babyface feuding with a guy like Cesaro for a long time. He could be that "personification of Americans" and Cesaro could go out and make a point of attacking...

Ryder has been over for two years now without being on TV really, and you could get him involved at any time...but nope.

He's not great in the ring, and he's not particularly good on the microphone in front of a live crowd...but he's got charisma and a charm about him.

ROH World champion Kevin Steen worked an independent show over the weekend after being "severely injured" the night before at Ring of Honor's TV taping, according to the show's promoter.

The claim was made in a story published by Arda Ocal for the Baltimore Sun on how Smash Wrestling arranged for a headline match of ROH champ Steen vs. DGUSA champion Johnny Gargano on January 6 in Toronto.

The match ended up being changed to a tag match - where Steen took the loss - due to Steen's physical condition, according to Smash promoter Sebastian Dastranj.

“One of the individuals from the match (Steen) ended up severely injured the night before,” Dastranj said. “He couldn't walk or get up off a chair properly backstage. In most events he probably would have canceled due to injury, but in this case he didn't want to short-change the people who came out for this match. I was worried some fans would think that we advertised a singles knowing we would go with a tag match (all along). Nothing could be further from the truth.”

Also included in the story are quotes from Steen on taking the tag loss and dealing with consequences later, DGUSA booker Gabe Sapolsky on giving permission for the original Steen vs. Gargano match to take place, and Gargano on buzz for the advertised singles match.

If true, I'm saddened as a fan of his work but I'm happy as hell for the guy. He deserves the money for busting his ass and I'm genuinely intrigued on how they handle him.
