People pine for the Attitude Era, but it only worked in the context of its time. It doesn't hold up, and it wouldn't work today.

Agreed its really rough to go back and stuff from that era, granted a middle finger here maybe a couple "obscene phrases" there and maybe even a chair shot to the head on a few occasions couldn't hurt.

The attitude era was only edgy because TV for the most part was pretty tame up until that point. Nowadays you get away with anything just shy of nudity on basic cable. The shock value is gone.

Punk can do everything under the sun to and with Rock but he can't beat the script for the night.

Doesn't matter if you're "The Best In The World;" If Vince doesn't want you going over, you don't go over and that's the downfall of the WWE right now.

Its not about the finish...the matches have been constructed like they are fresh out of 1999 WCW main events. Given the EC match was better IMO than the RR match but the way the match was laid out just doesn't do it for me.

Storylines and characters hold up. Matches and themes dont. I enjoyed the era post Attitude Era more FWIW.
