Cena story somebody dug up from a 2004 Observer:

Speaking of Cena, on 7/24, he was in Cleveland for the National sports Collectors convention, along with heavy hitters like Jim Brown, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Pete Rose, Johnny Bench, John Elway, Joe Namath, Lawrence Taylor, Reggie Jackson, Whitey Ford and Dan Marino. Cena had completed his signing session and was browsing the memorabilia dealers and came upon some game used NFL helmets. He went nuts. He started grabbing helmet after helmet, and started asking fans which helmets he should get. After about ten minutes, he settled on 32 helmets for a price of $7,200. On his way out, he saw a fan who was a quadriplegic in a wheelchair and on a ventilator. Cena and the boy talked for a few minutes and the boy must have said something about how cool it would be to get a Ken Griffey Jr. signed bat. Cena, with a big smile on his face, peeled off three $100 bills (price was $295), gave them to the boy to buy the bat and told him to keep the change. When the boy said to him, "You're the man," Cena came back and said, "No, you're the real man." This wasn't a publicity stunt and there were no cameras there and you won't be seeing it on TV and you wouldn't be hearing about it except a couple of my friends were right there when it happened.

Final Battle main event & Briscoe/Silas Young strap match aired for free on ROH last week, and the episode is up the their website if anybody is interested. You just have to sign up for the ringside club gimmick, takes 2 minutes and it's free. Just make sure you click the boxes so you don't get spam or use a dead email.

You can hate John Cena all you want but the guy seems to be a genuinely good person....aside from the whole cheating on his wife thing

A "professional" news agency actually reported the network story in this manner:

Good news for "professional" wrestling fans: No, it's not actually real. However, now you can enjoy wrestling 24 hours a day, seven days a week from the comfort of your parents' basement.

On February 24, World Wrestling Entertainment will launch an online subscription service called the WWE Network. According to portfolio manager John Stephenson, that won't help the stock, which more than doubled last year.

"I think they're already on the top rope after that 111% increase last year," says Stephenson on CNBC's Street Signs' Talking Numbers segment. "There's nowhere to go but down."

          Amazing.

CNBC also had a good report on the 13 best pornstars in 2013.

I love the always prevalent forced wrestling term inclusion

e.g. "They are...LAYING THE SMACKDOWN on their competition during the Monday night time slot"

This was also a common occurrence when Linda ran for office. Writers couldn't go 15 words without throwing in a wrestling buzzword/term to make themselves laugh.

it always bothered me that the documentry ends just before the whole SummerSlam match and Kevin Nash making him look like a bitch everytime they were in the ring together, his big angle leading to a penultimate HHH/Nash Match and his run as babyface champ playing 2nd fiddle to Cena's feud of the month and being an afterthought champion like he said he hated being on the blu-ray for months before finally turning heel....

might be timing but the special features include the daniel bryan title match that occurred months after SummerSlam
Basically anything that made Punk look bad visually was taken out per his request IMO.

Anything at the end of the S.E.S. run when he had his head shaved and wore a mask and the feud that spilled into fighting Big Show (WHO JOBS TO EVERYONE NOW)...

The Nexus abortion that elevated no one after the ONE supercool moment when Punk put on the armband...

The storyline of Jericho/Punk that went from who was really the "Best" to "CM Punk's Forced into Becoming an Alky... allegedly" back to the original plan when everyone found out how fucking stupid that turned out to be...

                          I could go on.

...I'm just happy that the Blu-Ray was basically a Best-Of with some neat tidbits thrown in there.

WWE TO PRODUCE PAUL HEYMAN DVD

By Mike Johnson on 2014-01-12 11:13:16

Jim Ross wrote the following on his website blog at www.JRsBarBQ.com:

"Been asked by WWE to be a part of the upcoming Paul Heyman DVD of which I’m anxious to participate. Once details are worked out we will schedule a time for me to head to WWE HQ and tell a few…dozen Heyman stories. I’m very honored to have been requested to be a part of this production as it was me who gave Paul his first broadcast gig and taught him the ropes as best that I could . Paul was so high strung and outspoken that many within WCW did not want to work with him but I saw talent in the abrasive albeit highly intelligent Jewish kid from Scarsdale, N.Y."
In asking around, I am told that WWE is already filming interviews and footage for the DVD, which will include a documentary and be released later this year. They were filming material in Philadelphia last week I am told.

Can't wait to see Heyman's spin on things versus conflicting views (stuff like the ECW on TNN gig, booking Smackdown, booking ECW on SyFy, on getting all the talent that went on to become bigger names before anyone else...).

But does Vince limit what he can say......or the detail that he goes into. Seems to me he might edit out what makes his image look bad.

If Vince really gave a damn about his "competition" after buying up all the territories and rebranding any indie worker that he deemed worth a damn for a cup of coffee on his shows, he'd of silenced guys like Heyman years ago.

Instead, he buys them out and makes them work for him.

Who's really gonna believe the guys like Bischoff and Russo who go around espousing how shitty Vince is/was when they gladly took checks from the dude?

Anybody could side with guys like Heyman if he decides to go full-blown shoot mode but Vince is the one who gets to pocket most of the money from the Blu-Ray/Digital/DVD sales when this thing hits the market.
