OK, maybe this isn't the greatest promo ever, but it's really great. I'm not even an Eddie Kingston fan, and i'm probably not buying this show, but this fucker nearly squeezed the $15 out of me with this...

The internet nerds LOVE Chikara. I looked into it for a couple matches, and just could not get into it at all. At least ROH was legit. I don't consider myself a WWE-type guy, but their set-up seemed so 4th rate. Some, maybe all, of the matches were in this tiny room in front of like 45 people. The wrestlers were all little. And I've got nothing against smaller spot-monkeys ala Sonjay Dutt. But these rail thin 145 lb guys doing lameass comedy spots just shut me out. Is there more to it than that? With the way people talk about it, I expected more. I've wanted to ask about it for a while (I think I looked them up about 2+ years ago maybe), but anywhere other than here I'd just get met with some sort of nerdy condescending douchiness. OT: does anyone else feel like the hardest part of being a wrestling fan is dealing with other wrestling fans?

CHIKARA is not my cup of tea.

What they do well: Tounge in cheek goofiness. If you are looking for SERIOUS. BUSINESS. in your wrestling, move on. It is very well booked and cohesive. The stories make sense. The characters are....creative. The online content & video work are top notch. Quackenbush is a very talented and creative guy.

CHIKARA does not take themselves too seriously, and that's what appeals to the niche they deliver to. I respect what they do, but I am not a big fan. They do some things I like, but mostly it's not for me.

Well, I'm not looking for super serious wrestling. It can have comedy involved, but I'd prefer it kept to a comedy segment or match. Not interrupting a match for a 40 second comedy spot that drags on and brings the match to a complete halt and makes it seem more like a goofy theater group moreso than a wrestling promotion. I mean, a couple of the comedy things were a little funny. But there's a way to incorporate it without completely shitting on the pacing of a match. So if it is that all the time, it's probably not for me. Thanks for the answer, W2B.

Something like Cabana vs. Peck will be straight comedy.

The main event will be super serious.

But you will get more wackiness with CHIKARA than any other promotion.

                No Ice Creams? I riot.

Good to see the Ants, though.
