    UFC signs Canadian Nick Denis

BP, is that your buddy who was always too small for the UFC before they added the new weight classes?

    Perhaps it is Denis.

No, Quinn hasn't been fighting much of late. He tried out for this season of The Ultimate Fighter in Jersey but obviously never made the cut.

Edit - shit, Quinn fought Denis in Quebec. Forgot about that. And Denis won.

Quinn also lost to Roland Delorme who was on this season of TUF and is fighting tonight.

Yup. Don't think Delorme did that well on the show but I really haven't been watching.

My buddy fought some of the better guys in his weight class here in Canada. And lost to most of them, but he didn't mix in many easier "gimme" wins in there. He consistently puts on exciting fights, but his record ends up working against him. Plus, he's kinda fucked by geography as well.

You still in Regina? Can't imagine there is much in the way of fights out there. Calgary is probably the closest regional stuff and I've been seeing more and more ads for local gigs

Yup, still here. There isn't a ton. Not much for training and not that much for shows. They do run occasional ones, but they tend to be very heavy with amateurs. Or nothing but amateurs - they have a show tonight that is nothing but amateur fights. $40 for 10 amateur fights? Fuck you very much, but no.

Winnipeg actually has a pretty decent scene. But a lot of the fights that Quinn's been offered over the past couple years have been out on the west coast or mostly out on the east coast. He fought in Quebec once or twice. But a lot of promoters end up pulling the offered fights because of the cost of flying him in. Between injuries and having so much trouble landing fights, he could be done. Dunno at this point.

Yah, these regional fights are ridiculous. Even the Muay Thai shows that Mike Miles runs start at $50 or so. I'd love to get in to going to those, but I don't want to spend my evening in a mediocre casino for that price.

I wouldn't even mind paying $30 or $40 for a ticket if the lineup made it worth it. If the show at least offers a few solid fighters, I'm okay with it. But a lineup of nothing but local guys with no experience? Not for that price.
