I'd rather have seen Amagov get the title shot over Jardine, but whatevs. Card does look sweet.

I love me some Larkin, Mo and Sponge.

I like but don't like the Mo vs Larkin fight, ever since Zuffa took over they are just trying to pick off guys and not letting them develop, some are not even ready to be picked off and they're still doing it

Robbie Lawler vs. Adlan Amagov is a good one

I don't think anyone really wants to see Jardine get a title shot, but they needed to fill a main event, so they needed a name fighter.

If that fight was anything other than the main event, I don't think Jardine would have gotten the spot.

Shit man, look at it this way...clearly Zuffa cares a little more about SF these days. There is a ton of speculation that they will start an exclusive 125lb division on Showtime, to go along with the women. The idea is this way, SF won't really look "second rate" as much, as it will be the home of it's own exclusive divisions and the place where hot prospects get their start.

its a feeder league at this point, they're just trying to keep zuffa on showtime so no other MMA shows take the spot

They're using wash outs, up and comers and making the goal to 'get to the UFC' and Womens which will never be in the UFC

Oh, and this is for rob, he should like this, Big Dave Meltzer taking a shot at Zuffa and pointing out hypocrite fans/media:

Luke Rockhold vs. Keith Jardine for the Strikeforce middleweight title headlines the first Strikeforce show of 2012 on 1/7 from Las Vegas at the Hard Rock. Jardine, 36, hasn't fought at middleweight his entire career, fighting at both heavyweight and light heavyweight. He hasn't fought at all since getting a somewhat ridiculous draw (he pretty clearly lost that fight) with Gegard Mousasi in April. The reason Jardine is getting a shot is because they have a show, Rockhold was to headline, and there's nobody else. Tim Kennedy was the original idea, but he's hurt. They decided against Jacare Souza, because they had already done that match and there wasn't a wide pool available of other contenders on the roster. Jardine had decided to move to middleweight. It looks like they want to build Rockhold as a star and figure Jardine is a name fighter and a win for Rockhold would mean more against Jardine than anyone else, considering Robbie Lawler has losses to Jake Shields, Souza and Kennedy. It's interesting that when Strikeforce would have title matches that made no sense in the regard of a guy not coming off a win, or from another weight class getting a title shot, people would rail on their stupidity (often without coming up with a better idea for the spot). Here, with Zuffa in charge of the matchmaking, they ended up doing the same thing.
