My thoughts on each match:
New Japan, NOAH, All Japan, CMLL, and ROH come together for what is traditionally the second biggest show on the planet each year behind WrestleMania, and by far the biggest show in Japan. Strong lineup, intriguing matchups, should be a lot of fun (even though Tama Tonga & Lance Archer got screwed out of a booking after working hard all year).
NJPW "NJPW 40TH ANNIVERSARY TOUR ~ WRESTLE KINGDOM VI IN TOKYO DOME", 04.01.2012 (WPW/PPV)
Tokyo Dome
1. IWGP Jr. Heavyweight Tag Team Title: Davey Richards & Rocky Romero (c) vs. Prince Devitt & Ryusuke Taguchi
Obviously this will be awesome. No Remorse Corps revival has been great (FOR-EVERRR!!), and you might have two of the five best wrestlers on the planet right now in this match.
2. AERIAL KINGDOM feat. CMLL SUPER ESTRELLAS: Jushin Thunder Liger, Tiger Mask, KUSHIDA & Mascara Dorada vs. TAKA Michinoku, Taichi, Atlantis & Valiente
Liger returns to New Japan after a long excursion to CMLL, and brings back some of the best CMLL workers with him. Should be a fun ten minutes of spots and wacky flying.
3. NEW JAPAN RESPIRATION Kazuchika Okada & YOSHI-HASHI Triumphant Return Match: Kazuchika Okada vs. YOSHI-HASHI
Okada returns from his forgettable run in TNA. Did you know he was there for roughly a year? Neither did anyone else who doesn't watch Explosion. I don't even know how to watch Explosion. TNA sucks.
4. BLUE JUSTICE NEVER DIE: Yuji Nagata & Wataru Inoue vs. Masakatsu Funaki & Masayuki Kono
New Japan vs. All Japan. Nagata lost to Tanahashi at the last PPV, so it's back to the middle for a while.
5. TOKYO MONSTER WAR: MVP & Shelton Benjamin vs. Yujiro Takahashi & Masato Tanaka
Tired of being beat down by the heels, MVP said he had a mystery partner to help deal with Tanaka - ROH's Shelton Benjamin. Can't wait for this.
6. IWGP Tag Team Title: Giant Bernard & Karl Anderson (c) vs. Satoshi Kojima & Hiroyoshi Tenzan
Bernard & Anderson are the dominant tag team in Japan, holding both the IWGP & GHC (NOAH) tag titles. Only the IWGP belts are on the line here, against the newly reformed legendary tag team of Kojima & Tenzan. I smell a title switch, the long reign of Bad Intentions could be over.
7. NJPW vs NOAH BATTLE CONCENTRATION I: Hirooki Goto vs. Takashi Sugiura
New Japan vs. NOAH! These guys will stiff the fuck out of each other, and it will be awesome. Goto has been jobbing left & right, maybe he gets a win here over the outsider.
8. FIGHTING WITHOUT HONOR OR HUMANITY: Togi Makabe vs. Yoshihiro Takayama
Two more big hosses who will beat the shit out of each other. HAWTNESS rarely jobs in any promotion, but maybe Makabe is the guy to beat him. They brawled at the last PPV to set this up.
9. NJPW vs NOAH BATTLE CONCENTRATION II: Shinsuke Nakamura & Toru Yano vs. Go Shiozaki & Naomichi Marufuji
New Japan vs NOAH, II. I assume they will split, so the winner of the singles match will give away the finish of this one. Too bad, because this has the potential to be tremendous.
10. GENIUS FACES GENIUS: Tetsuya Naito vs. Keiji Muto
Don't sleep on Muto, who still can go in a big match setting, and is a brilliant worker even with no knees. Naito is the chosen one, maybe Muto passes the torch as the All Japan outsider.
11. IWGP Heavyweight Title: Hiroshi Tanahashi (c) vs. Minoru Suzuki
The big one. History will be made as Tanahashi either breaks the record for successful title defenses (he tied Nagata by beating him last week at "Alive" PPV) with #11, or Suzuki finally ends the epic title run. Suzuki is red hot, coming off a G1 Tag win (w/Lance Archer), and a win over Giant Bernard at Alive.
