Will UFC 142 break 100,000 buys?

With GSP out, Brock retired, the ufc isn't going to be off to a fast start in ppv land in 2012

With Anderson scared to face Sonnen, and GSP out, could be a disaster of a PPV year.

Jones needs to start drawing, he has the hype, he does tons of PR, he obviously has unique skills and is exciting, so i'm about to give up on him. It's now or never. Some guys just don't click with the public at that level, maybe he is one of them.

              Silva/Sonnen
GSP/??? (Diaz/whoever, they are hoping Diaz obviously)
              maybe Jones turns the corner

Not much after that, unless the public buys Overeem now, because JDS & Cain have zero charisma and nobody cares. I get the sense that FOX did nothing for either guy. Ask a casual or first timer who fought on FOX in November, and I doubt many could name both guys.

Bones Jones vs. Hendo could be a good one as well

Even with the high rating, FOX flopped, it did nothing for the UFC

Not to pile on, but Brock looked like a complete amateur against overeem and cain, sometimes hype backfires and the UFC was selling brock as the baddest man on the planet (lol) for awhile, now it looks like amateur hour for 50 dollars a pop which was promoted on FOX heavily during cain/jds

So those 2 events really hurt IMO

They gotta hope The Reem catches on, he has charisma, the look, can do media and is destructive

                    They need:

                    1. As many main events to stay healthy!
                    2. Rashad to beat Phil Davis convincingly
                    3. Sonnen to beat Mark Munoz
                    4. GSP recover as scheduled
                    5. Nick Diaz to beat Carlos Condit
                    6. Nick Diaz to defend the interim belt against whoever, look great doing it and talk more shit about GSP
                    7. Rashad vs. Bones to actually happen
                    8. Anderson vs. Sonnen 2 to actually happen
                    9. Diaz vs. GSP to actually happen

---and that's just for three big fights. They still have probably 10+ other shows that aren't booked yet.

The Rashad/Bones winner may get to fight one more time in 2012, same with the Silva/Sonnen winner.

JDS vs. REEM should do a good number (500k+)
Silva vs. Sonnen 2 should do over 700k like the first fight
Bones vs. Evans should do over 500k depending on how well they push the feud
GSP vs. Diaz should do over 700k easy

everything else, unless someone unexpectedly catches fire or they bring in Fedor, will fall somewhere between 200k and 350k.

                    -------------------
Needless to say, it'll be a long year for them because I don't see how they can get all that to fall their way.
