Silva in contract talks with City

David Silva has confirmed his agents are in talks with Manchester City over agreeing a new contract with the club.

Silva, 26, signed for City from Valencia for £26 million in 2010 and has since proved a valuable asset for Roberto Mancini's side, with his creative instincts helping City claim the Premier League title last season.

The Spain international has two years remaining on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium but, in spite of being linked with Real Madrid, discussions are under way over an extension.

Silva is quoted as saying in the Daily Star: "My home is at City and I am totally satisfied there. My head is not at Real Madrid but at Manchester City.

"I'm grateful for my experience at City and I have improved as a player, in every sense, since I joined them. I didn't know if I was capable of playing like this when I left Valencia.

"I'm on holiday right now, but my agents are negotiating a new deal with City and I think it's likely we close it in a very short time."
Good to hear, stop all that rumored nonsense of him going to Real.

The king of swag Robert Mancini has signed a 5 year extension with City.

The deal, which runs until the Summer of 2017, follows the Club's most successful season in more than four decades, which concluded in the most dramatic of circumstances in the team’s thrilling 3-2 win over Queens Park Rangers in May this year. Agreement was reached after, in line with Club policy, discussions began as the season closed.

Talking of the agreement, Roberto Mancini declared:

"I am delighted to be able to give all of my efforts to Manchester City for a further five years. The opportunity which exists to build on our recent success is enormous. Manchester City is a fantastic football club, from the owner, chairman, Board and the executive team, through to the players, staff and fans.

"I am very much looking forward to the challenges and excitement ahead."

Interim Chief Executive Officer John MacBeath said:

"Roberto’s managerial credentials have been well proven in Europe for many years and in leading a team which has won the FA Cup and an unforgettable Barclays Premier League title in successive seasons, his ability to manage in the English domestic game is also undisputed.

"This new agreement allows Roberto to focus on the challenge of guiding a team which is capable not only of defending the Premier League title, but one which can compete for European honours."

                  IPOs in Football

Last season UEFA, the governing body for European football, introduced new “Financial Fair Play” (FFP) regulations, which limit the losses clubs can make on their football operations over a three-year period. Teams that fund their losses with equity, such as Manchester City, are allowed to go deeper into the red than those which must resort to debt, like Manchester United. That provided a strong incentive for Mr Glazer to modify the club’s capital structure.

Edin Dzeko’s agent says the Manchester City striker is being targeted by AC Milan following the sale of Zlatan Ibrahimovic to PSG – and claims talks about a move have already been held.

Dzeko, 26, who started the season strongly for City but fell down the pecking order as the campaign wore on, could be allowed to leave by manager Roberto Mancini.

And his agent Sead Susic told told spaziomilan.it: "Edin would love to play in Serie A and with the Rossoneri. A move to AC Milan is more than possible.

"There have been discussions and they are continuing. Let's see what will happen in the coming days. After the departure of Ibrahimovic, Dzeko would be an ideal replacement.
This one might have some legs.

"The club have no knowledge of the so-called spokesman Mr Susic, nor has it given a mandate to any third party to discuss the transfer of Edin Dzeko, who remains a Manchester City player," said a City spokesman.

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany signed a new six-year contract with the Premier League champions Thursday.

The long-term deal shows the Blues' faith in the 26-year-old Kompany, who last season led City to its first top-flight crown since 1968.

Kompany said it was his intent to deliver more trophies to Eastlands as the 'Man City project' continues.

"Hopefully in the future I will have a bigger impact than I already have," the Belgium international said in a statement on City's official website. "There are so many more trophies to win at this club that is why it makes it so special.

"For me if you are good somewhere then there is no reason to look elsewhere. Man City as a project is not just a project of the owners or the people employed by the club; it is also my project.

"I have been here since the beginning and I have seen everything at the club change inside and out. I have the feeling that I have contributed to it too. It is good to know that I can be at City for another six years. It is a compliment that the club feels so highly of me."

Kompany was signed by Mark Hughes from Hamburg in August 2008 and has helped transform City into one of the most high-profile clubs in Europe. The City skipper said he believes the FA Cup and Premier League triumphs of the last two years are just the beginning of success at City.

"Our title win was amazing and one of the best feelings ever for us and the fans," Kompany said. "That last game against QPR will be a very special part of City's history for the next 50 or 100 years but now is the time to look forward.

"We have laid the foundations and now we want to win more. If we do that then we can be one of the most successful clubs for a long time to come and that is the aim. I can't wait to get started again. I am really excited about the season ahead."
