Vermette to Coyotes for a 2nd Rounder

The Columbus Blue Jackets have traded veteran forward Antoine Vermette to the Phoenix Coyotes for a second round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft (via Ottawa), a conditional fifth round selection in the 2013 Draft and minor-league goaltender Curtis McElhinney.

Vermette, who is in just the second year of a five-year, $18.75 million contract, has spent the last four years with the Blue Jackets.

The 29-year-old is in his eighth season in the NHL; he's played with both Columbus and the Ottawa Senators.

In 60 games this season, Vermette has scored eight goals and picked up 19 assists.

"We are extremely pleased to acquire Antoine," Coyotes general manager Don Maloney said in a release. "He is a smart, skilled, two-way center who will be a great addition to our lineup."

Vermette also brings 42 games of playoff experience to the table; he helped Ottawa to the Stanley Cup Final in 2006-07 before losing to the Anaheim Ducks.

The 29-year-old McElhinney, who is currently rehabilitating an injury, has appeared in 69 career NHL games with the Calgary Flames, Anaheim Ducks and Ottawa Senators, compiling a 19-26-4 record with a 3.09 goals-against average.

The second round pick was acquired by the Coyotes in the Kyle Turris deal. The fifth round pick in 2013 becomes a fourth round selection if the Coyotes win a playoff round this year.

I've always thought Vermette to be a good support scoring player, just got stuck in that waste of a franchise.

Don't like that he's going to Phoenix, but a good pickup by them.

Good for columbus, though if Kyle Quiency can fetch a 1st rounder, surely Vermette could.

Anyway, as I said, good for them. They need to clean house. The shit thing is, they need to go through an insane rebuild in Columbus and they had the chance, but they fucked it right up. Just think, they could have had a front line next season of Nash - Couturier - Yakupov and just started to fap their way to the bank. These were gimmie picks for them. Couturier falling to 8th was a gift, and would have really helped more than Jeff Carter who has turned out to be a dud.

Columbus needs to move him out, get another early first round pick back, then draft Yakupov and Galchenyuk, keep Nash and MOTHERFUCING PROFIT!!!
All you need to know when thinking of the NHL vs Madden series is the two people involved in making the games.

    "rammer" and "cummings"

The NHL series is a giver, Madden takes the load.
